Help please??

I had a 14cm Dermoid cyst removed from my right ovary 10th October 2014 and since about a month after surgery I have felt pressure and I have had pushing feeling like when I had the cyst.

On my follow up with the gynaecologist I told her that I get like I had another cyst she laughed and said no no it's too soon.

When she examined me she did an internal and said she can't rule out another cyst and referred me for a ultrasound.

I had the ultrasound today and they had to do a transvaginal one too and it showed a 2cm cyst on my left ovary and a 3.1cm cyst on my right ovary.

The lady explained that the cyst that we produce monthly are usually no bigger than 3cms and is hoping they'll pass through. But because the bigger cyst is the one on my ovary that had the other one they want to rescan me next month when I have my next Gynecology appointment.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has had similar experiences.

Hi kt.- I can't relly help as I'm waiting for a laparoscopy or hysterectomy on Jan 27th 2015. My cysts are 5cm and 8cm. i have no symptoms at all, which is why it's been a shock . How was your cyst removed- which surgery did you have? It must be worrying for you,but at least they are monitoring them for you and they are fairly small  and they may disappear?  Take care x

I had to be cut right open right across my lower stomach. Which I kinda knew they would die to the size of mine. They said they would fee the position of it whilst I was asleep and then see what surgery was best.

I was quite certain when feelings that pressure and pushing there was another cyst but thought it would be bigger than it is.

Hope all goes well with you surgery.

Hi kt- Thanks for that info. I've just been for pre- op stuff at hospital and have a feeling it will be a hysterectomy, but at least going on websites like this,I already knew a lot of what she told me so not a shock x

    Hi,

I will tell you my stroy and maybe it might answer a few things, but feel free to ask any questions.

In june 2013 i was rushed into hospital for pains inside my tummy and horrible bleeding periods. I was so swollen and uncomfortable. I felt dizzy sicky just horrible. I had to have an emergency operation as i had a 9.5 cm dermoid cyst. It damaged my right ovary and tubes and i had to have my ovary removed. I was total devasted and heart broken. I have never had kids as i was worried for my future.

I recovered with a large amount of pain and unfortunately still get it, to which am under going investigation finally for damage that could of been because of the surgery. (during the surgery you feet are raised on stirups and they can move you about which can cause some problems. so they may have damaged something in my hip area right)

Anyway i started to feel unwell again worrying about a cyst in same area, which is hard cause i have no ovary or tubes on that side. I was getting increasing cramps and my periods havent been the same since i had the operation in June 2013. Black and clots and hardly last a day or two. Started to get horrible wall paper paste discharge and it was just horrible. Doctors would take me serious said it was hormones adjusting.... yeah right!!!!

I was finding it hard to stand at work for long periods of time and started feeling dizzy and my tummy just increasing. Putting on weight... about a stone!!! and then in June 2014 i was driving to work and i had to call ambulance i was in so much pain. I was kept in hospital and had a scan and they said nothing is there. they acutally turned around and said i am constipated.

I was not!!!!!! i was always constipated before my cyst in june 2013 and soon as i had operation i havent been like i was.

They decided to give me injection to mimic the menopause to help my cramps and it did but i had a massive reaction from the injections so they stopped it.

They then did an oepration to look back inside me and said there was nothing there. Sept 2014.

The pain was getting really bad in my hip and i struggled... but i was also getting pain on my left... (this is my only ovary)... so i had big arguement with my doctor to be refered to a different hospital in and see a different consultant (2 hours drive away).... he arrange for a MRI Scan where i had dye in my veins... he said the pain in my hip was due to damage from operation which i am seeing a specialist for within the month. However he said that i had a 4.7cm cyst on my left ovary and it is solid which suggested cancer...... but he said its highly unlikely because they looked inside me in september... 3months ago.

He says its normal to get blood filled cyst that can burst or it could be another dermoid cyst. these just keep growing and growing usually.

He arranged to have a scan on 27th Jan 2015, and says if it has gone then great, if not he will arrange to look inside and remove cyst. He is very good and i total trust him as he is a excellent consultant which is why i fought to be seen by him and thats why i drive over 2 hours away to be seen by him. He also thinks i might have adeymetrios (cant spell it) inside my uterus. Which is very simular to endometriosis.

Anyway, on two days before xmas i was in so much pain and i rang and he arrange to have an emergency scan. The cyst was smaller but was leaking fluid in my ovary, which worried me but he says this is what can cause you pain, swelling, dizzy spells, sickness... you tummy can look massive as if you are pregnant.

Some people experience this, some people have cyst that come and go and dont have any symptoms.

I am still having a scan on 27th to see if it is still there and what my ovary is like.

one thing i can say i experience these symptoms throughout the month especially when i would be ovulating... it can be horrible... i get the extreme of the symptoms. Its horrible headaches, sickness, bloated... constantly more than normal that never goes away. I have in total but on nearly stone and half or even 2 stone since operation in june 2013..... its horrible. I also get palpitations and anxiety... i had it really bad when my cyst was massive. and as soon as the cyst went i didnt have as much axiety... it is all to do with the hormones..its horrible.

Some cyst can get really really big before bursting.... and it is normal but to me it still worries me cause i havent had kids and would like them. i am 33 in june 2015. I was really bad the month of my MRI scan, and obviously when i got my results i found out i had a cyst,. but i never knew that i had a cyst, and i was worried about my mri... i just would get very worked up, emotions and anxious about things and it was all very horrible....

please ask me any questions and am sorry for writting so much i just hope it has answered some of your thoughts. ..... please update me or send me a private message if you want with how your doing. xx

      Thank you for your message.

So sorry to hear all what you have gone and are going through sad such a tough time for you!!

I get tired, heartburn, and pushing and really uncomfortable pain in my right side with mine.

That severe worst ever pain I thankfully only had once for around a week and that was the worst feeling ever I couldn't even lay the pain was so so bad. I got admitted to hospital for 3 days and even tramadol, codeine, and paracetamol together wouldn't take that awful pain away!!

I guess I will see what happens at this scan next month. I just hope if they need to remove it they do it through keyhole and quick and don't leave it like they did before!!

Hi Sarah- reading what you've been through I feel very lucky that I've had no pain. You are too young to go through all this. I am glad you have a consultant you can trust and I can only imagine how scared and down you've been. I have my operation on the 27 Jan so will be thinking of you. Hope you get sorted at last xx

I will be having scan same day so I will be thinking about you. Hope operation goes well.

I am a very bubbly person and have to be positive, I do get down but I have to put my best face forward. I found that these forums are good cause u can talk to people who can understand to some extend how you are feeling in many ways. Plus if can make people feel like they are getting something off their chest I can also feel bit better..... Just hate then waiting game. X

Hi Sarah - you're right it's the waiting that makes me so anxious, even tho , like you I've always been positive and like to laugh and enjoy life to the full. This forum means I don't have to talk about it too much to friends and family. They've been great but all have their own daily struggles and I hate talking about medical stuff normally ! xx

I think that although people say they are there to listen and help..like close family and friends. There is only so much they want to hear cause they can't really do anything about it.

can I ask what things have happened to you.. I will send u a msg in ur inbox.

Hi Sarah- I agree-  even my husband who's been brilliant says stop worrying it'll all be OK ! wish I could ! Briefly I've got 2 cysts 5cm and 8cm - one on each ovary. I have no symptoms at all but they're treating it as possible ovarian cancer ( because of my age 74) I've always been fit and healthy- no medication etc. so the surgeon is now going to have a look (laparoscopy) and if he feels he needs to he will do a hysterectomy straightaway.-Jan 27th Altho it would be nice to have the smaller op,I would have to be monitored regularly and like most people would rather not keep going back to hospital so I'm prepared for the hysterectomy- at least there will be nothing for the cysts to grow on ! The CT scan showed there was no spread into the rest of the body (phew !) and my blood test was normal 27 (normal is 35 ) Hope your scan has good results for you xx

I have my next gynaecology appointment on 26th of February. And the lady who did my ultrasound and transvaginal scan on Thirsday said she wanted me to be rescanned on my next appointment so I'm guessing il get a letter for the same date as Gynae appointment.

My periods are more painful and I am usually very very regular in regards to bang on every 28 days. And this month I came on 2 days late. I'm a lot more emotional too when on my period.

I just don't know what route to go down if it does grow in thinking do I ask them to just remove my ovaries but then I'm only 30! I'm gay so I plan to adopt but I still think what if I do ever want my own child as I still do think that at times and I have also heard of people having their cysts removed and still having cysts growing in the tissue. So I dunno what's for the best sad

Hi kt - It sounds as though they are monitoring your cysts with regular scans, which I may have if don't have hysterectomy. At your age I think they will do everything they can to keep your ovaries so that you can have a child if you want in the future.Lots of women do get cysts every month with a period but they go or don't grow. Got everything crossed for you for the 26th Feb xx

      Thank you Sylvia.

I think I'm just worried about it growing too big again as they left me for 6 months last year and then I had to have open surgery and be cut right across my bakini line. Which then lead to 8 weeks off work and I still have a bruised stomach 3 months later sad

My mum is a nurse and she says I should have my ovary out that I had the large cyst in and have the bigger cyst in now. But if I do and then go on to have another cyst in the tissue from the ovary il be just as gutted!!

Hi kt- You could do with talking to the consultant who did your op again. He should be able to advise you as he's seen inside ! Bet you could do without all this worry and get back to a 'normal' life again. That's all I'm looking forward to after Jan 27th when I have my op. Take care xx

      Hi

I have just read your story. I had a 17 x 11cm cyst removed last June along with my right ovary and Fallopian tube through open surgery. The doctor had a look around and couldn't see anything else but I had an ultrasound last week and now have a 6cm cyst on my left side. Have pushed for an earlier appt than they originally sent to me to see the consultant as I too am worried at how big this one will get and what they will have to remove with it as I only have the one ovary now. Interesting u said about being emotional during your period as I have found that too. Am suffering with nausea this time around and it's a lot more painful than the last one despite being smaller.
