If you still haven't had an operation, I also had a Pilonidal Sinus/cyst detected in May-June 2014 and had no time to get an operation done due to my office commitments as it was going to take a lot of days for me to recoup. Eventually got my operation done in December 2014.
My mother believes in ayurvedic healing due to my Indian nationality and I started applying turmeric powder in the infected area.
Turmeric powder is good in this case for two reasons - One it stops hair growth near the infected area and it stops the development of puss as it keeps the area dry rather than moist because of such closed nature.
I used to apply it twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening after coming back from theoffice and within two three days you will start feeling normal. That is how I could sustain the pain for so long. Hope this helps!
