HELP! Sorry this is so long. So I’ve been pretty sick for 3 months now. Numerous problems. First acid reflux .. stomach problems...bowel problems..ovarian cysts. Now I’m having a worse problem. My left arm goes numb and tingles a lot and is weak. It hurts a lot and the pain radiates to shoulders and back. I also have reduced sensations of touch. Same thing happens to my fee and somtimes my leg. Sometimes I get it in my right arm but it’s mosly my left. I’ve been having some vision problems(blurish vision, pain behind eyes, dryness) as well as headaches everyday, nose and head pressure That makes me feel like I’m going to explode. Ear pain now and then. As well as confusion, forgetfulness and messing up words. I’m also excessively tired. I been having difficulty swallowing and pain in my neck and reacurring sore throat. I’ve thought about everything from thyroid problems to just being acid reflux to body pain from the way I sleep. I’ve look up just about every single problem. I’m going crazy. No doctor listens to me and says I neee counseling for anxiety but my health problems started 3 months ago and spiraled ever sense. Now I’m worried I have multiple Sclerosis or like a brain tumor. I doubt I’ll be able to get a MRI or CT scan.. any thoughts ? Opinions ? Can anyone relate to these symptoms?

Hi amburr99,
I'm not sure I understand why you can not get an M.R.I. or CT scan?
This is a long shot but..................some of your symptoms MAY have to do with a loss/losing of Cerebral Spinal Fluid?Ask your doctor about this possibility?
Michael

I would seek a second opinion. My normal doctor tried telling me it was from a viral infection and anxiety, and yes I do believe anxiety is exacerbating the symptoms, how the anxiety never presented until a few days after symptoms when I realised whatever this is wasn't seeming to be temporary.
I've sought a second opinion and my new doctor is investigating my symptoms in great detail and booked me in to see a neurologist within 2 weeks, and I assume the neurologist will perform nerve conduction tests, MRI, CT etc.
Sorry I haven't been much help but I would definitely seek a second opinion and take with you to your appointment a timeline detailing dates and symptoms. It will be helpful for the new doctor.

I should add that considering your symptoms appear bilateral then it's unlikely MS. You mention ovarian cysts? I'm wondering how old you are and whether this could have caused a hormonal imbalance or preimenopause or menopause. Maybe ask to have this checked? In my opinion it's best to view all avenues as these types of symptoms can come from so many different causes. Get your vitamin levels checked too.
Have you suffered any viruses lately? Or had your ears checked? I'm on Zyrtec for hay fever which alleviated the sinus issues but it may interfere with anxiety mess if you are on those.
It also can't hurt to see a psychologist for the anxiety. These symptoms are going to exacerbate it (it did to me) and now my anxiety is beyond my own control so I'm seeking external help there too.

I am 18 years old. So I don’t think it’s the ovarian cyst. I have been to the hospital numerous times and even urgent care. I got told at first everything was related to a virus. I’ve been having stomach problems and they said acid reflux and gastritis. Ontop of that I’ve had problems with my throat as I mentioned hard time eating and swallowing and pain and sometimes a reacurrent sore throat. That’s where it all began. Now I’m having the nerve problems and it’s hard to even fold laundry or carry stuff cause my arms and feet feel weak and numb and shaky, they feel like they’re gonna stop working. And recently I’ve noticed I’m forgetting stuff and losing my balance as well as my vision is messing with me. As well as the headaches and terrible body pain. And chest pain near my heart. But I did seem to pickup a cold that I caught from my boyfriend. So I’m not sure what this is but it’s scary. I need to get a second opinion because no one is listening. I want to see a neurologist but I’m not sure if it’ll work cause the only who accept my insurance needs a referral. Ugh.

Just book in to see a new doctor straight away and list out all your symptoms. They may refer you to an ENT specialist considering your head, vision, ears and throats issues, or possibly a neurologist.
Speculating right now is only going to cause anxiety. It's common to seek second opinions so reach out and get one.
The reason I ask about the cyst is that ovarian cysts are usually brought on by a hormonal imbalance (so I believe). You should ask to have this checked as if you have a hormonal imbalance it can affect the nervous system (ie your tingling, numbness etc) it can also cause gut issues and insomnia and anxiety. Your new doctor should get your medical history at the start of the appointment.

Even if it was anxiety, the nature of his dismissiveness is quite uncaring.
My new doctor is marvellous and says the best way to deal with a patient with anxiety is to be informative and treat all concerns as valid.
Maybe ask friends if they can recommend a good one for you as word of mouth helps.

I am so sorry for your troubles. I am not a doctor, but allow me to offer several suggestions.
Acid reflux: There is a wonderful product sold here in the US for that "Pepcid AC" 20 mg. I take it only when I really need it (one tablet). 30 minutes later, no more acid stomach. It works well for me ever time. Avoid acid- rich foods such as yogurt. Eggs always give me an acid stomach, so cut back on those. No food after 7pm!
Cut out ALL sugar - juices, soft drinks, fruits, candy, cake, ice cream - LITERALLY ANYTHING SWEET. It's ok to use Splenda in moderation. It may sound incredible but many/most of these conditions FEED ON SUGARS. You would be well advised to steer clear of fried and highly processed foods.
Try taking a hot bath every evening, and don't rush. Keep adding hot water.
You need to be seen by a qualified neurologist (and get a complete work-up) to IDENTIFY the cause of these symptoms. It's no use guessing!
best wishes now and always

I don't know if this helps but I've been looking into magnesium supplements. Apparently it's a big deal that I never knew about. I'm going to visit a naturopath this week in the lead up to my neurologist appointment.
