So I went to get tested because I have experience random burning off and on constantly. Well I didn't have any sores for them swab or anything. They took swab of my v area and everything came back negative! I told the doctor I need to be tested for herpers and they swab my v area , I was so confused,. It come back negative ! So today I called and asked how accurate was the test since it's swab and I don't have any sores and she told me accurate.. I'm lost ! Can the test that way?

That is not an accurate test method in the absence of lesions. If you fear you're infected and it's been 3+ months, you need to do the IgG antibody test (not IgM).

I don't see a photo. Did you upload it under this thread or another? A swab is only accurate if it detects the virus, but that can only happen when you are having an outbreak or shedding. Since outbreaks and shedding are not constant, it's very possible to take a swab on a non-outbreak/shedding day to give a false negative. IgG antibodies, however, are constant following 3+ months of infection. You have them for life regardless of outbreaks or shedding, hence why it's better to test for IgG in the absence of lesions if more than 3 months have passed. Hope that explains it!
