Help please. How to regain urinary sensitivity

Normal people drink something, a few hours later they get that lower pelvic feeling of needing the toilet. The longer they leave it, the more intense the feeling becomes and then they must rush to the toilet before they pee themselves. Then they get to the toilet and they urinate. It comes out quickly and with force. If the person pushes, the urine will come out even quicker. After which they shake it off and are left feeling relieved and empty.

My pattern is different. I can drink loads. Like, 3 coffees, a glass of water and a juice maybe. 5-6 hours can pass before I realise, I haven’t urinated, but have a bit of discomfort in my stomach, and bloating. I take myself to the toilet and stand there for a moment, whilst trying to encourage urination. A little flow will start, though no where near enough for the amount I’ve drank. Also, the ability to increase the force a normal person would have, is not there. Then the urination stops, but my stomach still feels bloated. This is different if I have had alcohol though. If I have alcohol, I p**s like a race horse.

Over time an associated discomfort has formed in the left-hand side of my abdomen. This initially occurred one night which abruptly woke me from my sleep. When I went to the toilet I had to sit and wait a minute for a little trickle to come out. But at first the discomfort subsided enough for me to fall back asleep. This pattern of waking up every night abruptly due to a discomfort in my side, going to the toilet to only produce a small amount of urine, then going back to sleep, has worsened.

The worst thing is the impact on my sleep. I have not slept a normal night for 4 years, nearly 5. EXCEPT, for one week when I had a UTI. The side effect of the UTI was penial discharge and increased urge of urination (I know it sounds like gonorrhoea, but my sex life was nonexistent at them times). The increased urination led to a return of a normal sensation to urinate after a few hours, a good quantity of urination and the return of a good flow. I slept like a baby and woke up feeling normal (apart from the penial discharge ☹). This continued until the UTI went away. Once the UTI disappeared, the old symptoms returned.

I have done urine tests, blood tests, ultrasound scans, a CT scan, a renogram scan and a cystoscopy. They have all come back as negative.

I have tried sleeping medications, prostate medications, pain relief medications and SO MANY OTHER THINGS. Nothing works. And in many cases have additional side effects which are so destructive.

At this stage, all I can think of trying is to replicate the symptoms when I had a UTI. Trying to find a way to increase my urge and frequency to urinate.

Has anyone got any advice or suggests please?

Thank you

I would do no more tests. Instead I suggest you see another urologist with ALL the results and scans. He may interpret (or have a radiologist who will on his behalf) the scans differently. It is VERY possible that one radiologist or urologist will read these scans (or blood work) differently and conclude differently.
