Taking fultium d3 3200 for eight to twelve weeks when found to have low vit D is normal. Then move to a maintenance dose. Do you know what your vit D reading was? I always ask for a print out which I find useful. Having low vit D should not affect your weight, perhaps it is that you are not moving so much since your disc problem. My vit D reading was 26 and I try and sit out in the sun for a short time each day as that is where the bulk of our vit D comes from.

hi i was told it was 20nmol ???so does this mean its 20??my gp said if this doesnt work i have to see a specialist as have a platelet problem too

Yes I think that is very low I think you should be on a higher dose of vitamin d.

Yes 20nmol, I was being lazy with my typing! High dose vit D should sort out your platelet problem as well hopefully. It takes a while to increase your vit D, normally at least three months. Does your GP know why you have a low platelet count?

no he doesnt know why but its only 113 and should be much much higher ...so do u think im on right dose of vit d then and do u have any side effects ??sorry for all the questions lol

113 is not critical, normal is 150-400. Hopefully the vit D will help. I assume your GP is trying that first before you seeing a consultant for more tests.

I have not had any side effects from vit D and I have been taking them a while. I think people need to be careful not to overdose on them which can cause problems. I came across one person who doubled her already high dose as she thought she would get better twice as fast!

    Hi Maxine

My level was at 13 and I was put on 10 000iu/day for till I go back to be tested at the end of the month.  I've been doing that since March 7.  It's been a long recovery... I'm stil having muscle pain, and the brain fog comes and goes.  The fatigue is a lot less... my doctor told me it could take up to 6 months to start to feel a difference... it's coming, but not near normal yet.....I'm hoping my levels will be high enough I can drop down to 5000IU/day..

I also take Magnesium, a multi vitamin, Vitamin K, calcium, and B12.

Anyone else I have talked to have had good and bad days... just part of the recovery... hang in there... it will come....

aww im glad im not the only one with brain fog and pain your reply has helped me thanks as i have felt really quite ill and sore so fingers crossed the meds work as dont want injections really

If you don't want the injections of D3, you could ask your doctor about a liquid form... that's what I take, it absorbs faster into your system....

I also went for a massage yesterday for the muscle pain... what a difference... this morning was the first time in a long time I woke up without pain.  I'm a little stiff, but what a difference....

I didn't notice a real difference until about 6 weeks after I started taking D, and then it was just small things... My anxiety is alot less, but still there, I sleep a lot sounder.  It is frustating, I know.  I started keeping a journal, and go back to see where I'm improving.. baby steps...it didn't take a few days to become deficient, it will take awhile to get back to normal...

Hope you are feeing better.... I had a bit of a set back last week.  A stomach bug hit me hard last week.  I slept for 3 days and wasn't eatng, didn't feel like eating anything, still don't, it has been a nasty bug.

How did your tests work out?  They also tested me for everything under the sun, the only thing they found was the low Vitamin D.  I had my 3 month blood test last week, go back today for the results... fingers crossed.. let you know how I made out.....
