Hi I am 52 and been in Peri since age 46. I've been suffering with chronic nausea, constant headaches including debilitating migraines for months now. All tests showing nothing serious, yet i cant work and feel like im just existing not living. No quality of life and its affecting me mentally now too . Any advice, help or comfort much appreciated as all GPs/healthcare workers have drawn a blank x

hi Toria - Thank you for your reply. I have the Mirena coil so I’m not sure if I am still having periods and I have tried six different types of prescription anti-nausea tablets all to know avail unfortunately x

i unfortunately was allergic to the mirena coil, had it years ago, it made my migraines worse, swapped to copper and was fine, the anti nausea i take are called cinnarizine, have you tried them? also are you eating alot of sugar? x

i’ve had the coil for 2 1/2 years now with no problem, but I am thinking about having it removed to see if it changes my situation at all. I have not tried those anti-nausea tablets, are you suffering from nausea as well?I’m hardly eating anything to be honest I’ve lost three stone in the last few months. But I am eating biscuits as and when I can, so they will have sugar in them. I’m just trying to eat and keep down anything possible.

Prior to all the symptoms I have at the moment, I had put about two stone on! ( Which I had put down to being a 'typical' menopausal woman ) so even though I’ve lost a lot of weight I am still not underweight, which is one of the reasons I feel that their GPs et cetera I’m not taking it that seriously as to how ill I am feeling. I haven’t been able to eat a full or hot meal for about three months now I am just nibbling on things like you have suggested. Which is so depressing in itself Because when I am feeling my normal self I love food. But I have virtually constant nausea and no appetite pretty much 24 /7 . I’m in a Catch-22 situation because I think this is probably what is causing the migraines and constant headaches. I ended up in hospital at Easter on an IV drip due to dehydtation - So I’m trying to desperately at least keep my fluid intake up to avoid that situation again.

Thank you so much for your replies Toria. I was referred to our local menopause clinic and they rang me two weeks ago for a consultation but she said that Nausea And my weight loss wasn’t recognised as a menopausal symptoms in the UK and discharged me back to my GP. From all the research I have done on the Internet I know this isn’t the case. I seriously hope you get a better service than I did. Please let me know how you get on x
