I’m 16 and about 6 months ago I  got diagnosed with balanitis, my GP then gave me cream and said this should get rid of it. I then went on to use the cream for a number of weeks and I eventually thought the balanitis had gone. However since then my penis now lets of a fishy smell and when erect, goes really red and sometimes looks shiny. The fishy smell goes for abit when washed but returns really quick. I have went to about 3 more doctors now but all said there is nothing wrong  AT ALL, however I’m convinced there is. Can someone pls help and tell me what they think, as its actually causing me quite abit of stress.

I’m not sure what my condition is though or even if I have one. The doctors did tell me not to worry and don’t go working myself up on a problem I might not even have. However, I will go on this website and compare the symptoms and see which one fits best to my ‘problem’. Thanks for the help!

If I use most body washes/soaps, the skin on my glans gets dry and flaky, sometimes red and itchy. So, I started using an all natural soap to wash my sensitive areas. (groin and anywhere acne prone). It would likely work for you too, as I also did not see any results with cream. I didn't get the fishy smell with an erection, it just made the dryness worse for me. My advice is to stop using the cream and be very careful what you wash your penis with. Penis skin is very delicate and dries out fast with the chemicals in traditional soaps and body washes. If you are anything like me, all you need to get rid of the issue is to kick chemicals to the curb.

I am no longer using the cream and haven’t done for around 4 months now  as when I had balanitis the cream helped all the spots to go and I then thought my penis was normal again. My penis has never seemed to go flaky but does go dry now and then,  however the things that do stick out the most is the smell and when in erect the redness. I will go forward and buy the natural soap as I’m willing to try anything, thanks for the help adam

Good evening my young friend.  I just read a article on this problem.  The smell is from the infection.  You may have to some things to change.  How often to you take a bath.  When we are younger we don't need it that much.  I know when i was 7 or 8 Sat was bath day.  But by the time I turn 9.  I know I would have to change.  When I was 10 I had a full mustache.  I went through the change very early had more hair on my body then my Father.  With wet dreams and other happening.  I took a bath every day.  I still do.  What I read it said that this happens to 1 in 20 men.  You have to make sure you raise off good and make sure you dry before you put anything on.  What type of soap are you using or laundry detergent.  That may have something to do with it.  Are you into sports.  If you sweat a lot that could be a problem.  Also if you are having sex or masturbating wash as you as you can.  Me and my sons never had this problem.  They are both hairy and they take showers every day I hope you find out what is going on.  The cream can work.  If it still will not go away go back to the doctor he may have to give you a different cream.  Take care and Good luck  Ken

I wash everyday mostly In the bath as when I take a shower it seems like this irritates it,not to sure tho. Also when I’m in the bath everything seems normal but I’m not sure why this is. The soap that I’m using at the moment is dove but I mostly use lynx body wash instead of soap. I do not use any cream anymore and haven’t done for about 4 months now as I thought my symptoms had Gone, so do only thing I am doing is rinsing it in water and clean it well. Thank you for the help ken, I will take on your advice!
