Help! Rashes that nightmares are made of!

Hi everyone,

I am writing here out of absolute desperation, since a week ago my wife, daughter and I have started getting these itchy raised oval shaped bumps, we called the doctors and sent photo's when it began and they claimed we all had allergies, but after a couple of days we could tell it was getting out of control and getting extremely itchy.

On the Tuesday we had done some googling like anyone does and thought it could be scabies, so without consulting anyone I went to a pharmacy got some Lycream and following the guidance on all of us (shower, wait until dry and cool, apply over your entire body, wash after 8 hours), along with changing bedsheets and re-washing masses of clothes at higher temperatures.

Wednesday morning we were hoping to see some kind of improvement but we were not that lucky, we called the doctors again and spoke with them over phone consultation to which the doctor agreed that it could be scabies and prescribed a larger dose of Lycream, Wednesday evening looking at our daughters marks we started to notice they were really looking like rings, so a bit of googling pointed us to ringworm, feeling frustrated that we have might been misdiagnosed (twice), we contacted a doctor friend abroad for some advice and sent them some pictures, and they said it looks like ring worm, the problem is mine look completely different and look more like nasty bug bites (red raised bumps), regardless my wife started getting these marks on her face so I decided I would go get some clotrimazole and start applying it on these marks that very evening so that we have covered both bases.

Thursday we continued to keep applying the clotrimazole on any bumps, they're now itching like crazy, all of us frustrated at the fast we are gaining more bumps at a rate of around 5-15 per day, the creams showing no signs of helping yet.

Friday morning, we have decided we need to see a doctor face to face, and hope that we could get a skin scrape to tell us what it is, so we called the doctors that morning but could only get an appointment at 15:45 that day, we took what we could get and spoke with the doctor, she explained that ringworm doesn't spread at the rate that we are getting these bumps, and so it's more likely to be scabies but we should attack both so more anti fungal creams (stronger ones) and lycream, she also said she wont do the skin scrape unless it doesn't improve on Monday, (she was pushing for one week, but at that rate we will be covered head to toe in them so I pushed back on it)

If anyone can offer any sort of help advice or answers for this, please help us, my wife is distraught at the fact her face is covered with these marks (now about 10+ marks on her face)

what is so frustrating is the unanswered questions, and what looks like a hopeless race ahead.

  • why do our marks not look like scabies if they are scabies?
  • why so my marks not look like ringworm, but my daughters look textbook
  • why when a new bump arrives, when applying anti fungal cream
  • how can we stop new ones arriving when we have more coming at such a fast rate?

I have added some pictures of some of the marks, any help / answers is hugely appreciated.

Have you guys thought maybe it could be monkeypox? especially since they appeared on your wife's face and arms.

It's also possible that it's a bacterial infection.
