Help returning to work tomorrow!

Hi everyone, hope u's all had a good Christmas and new year. I'm in need of help and advice I'm returning to work tomorrow after being off for Christmas break. I work in a primary school as a classroom assistant. I love my job but I was struggling coming up to Christmas and just suffered and pushed on and didn't tell anyone. Being off has been great I felt better for a few days even had a day were I was pain free (didn't last long) lol.

But I got the dreaded reminder text about our return n I managed to get so stressed and anxious I've a flare up starting 😣😣. I'm only 24 and have no children yet, I'm so sick of this horrible pain.

Can anyone advise help on how "calm" it? I'm at my wits end and debating whether to get a sick note from gp.

I could talk to the head teacher but I'm getting embarrassed over this.

Sorry for the rant. 😔 Xx

Hi SMC, I so sympathise.  I too was in total agony leading up to Christmas - struggling to keep going just long enough to get to the holidays without collapsing. I also benefitted from the rest from work.  Getting stressed about returning to work made last weekend really uncomfortable and I've only been back two days and already I'm in agony again.  Have you tried meditation?  Particularly Mindfulness techniques - which were developed specifically for pain relief.  You can find some helpful guided meditation stuff on places like youtube, it's not a 'cure' but it really helps to lessen anxiety and tension and that really does help with some of the pain. Talk to your GP about meds for anxiety - some of the newer ones have been developed with pain relief as the primary benefit, also lowering stress etc.  I am on a low dose of amitryptaline and although it definitely doesn't stop the pain completely it does lower it to a point where I can at least cope on a daily basis.

Thanks girls well I was taking kalms but the doc then proscribed me some anti depressants first was citaolpram which hated me then I've been changed to fluoxetine 20mg. I've only been on them 2 months now but I've been told it takes a while for them to work. So I am being treated but im freaking out. I'm also on maxitram Sr. (Tramadol slow release) for pain and patch that have like a pain relief in it.

It's comforting that I'm not the only 1 struggling but I have such a demanding and stressful load this term with inspectors due few kids asd n other behaviour issue. As well as a job share with teacher.

    Thanks again
