I am hoping someone can help, I suffer all year round with nasal drip down the back of my throat and it goes onto my stomach, my nose feels permanently blocked but nothing comes out of my nose, because of the dripping in my throat I am always coughing but don't bring anything up. Also when the nasal drip dries up from time to time I end up with sinus problems and ear ache. I have been to Drs on numerous occasions and ENT and there is nothing they can do. I am currently on avamys nasal spray and a take a loratadine once a day but it's just not going away. Any help appreciated

Hello and join the clun Michelle,  I too suffer the same symtoms as you've discribed.  However, it could be far worse if you also suffered Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, that man of us do on this Forum.  I'm not making light of your condition, as a suffer myself it's awful, but ETD is so much worse.  The mucus from allergies and sinus issues sticks the tubes together causing tinitus, loss of hearing and a terrible clogged pressure feeling and unless the eardrum/drums actually perforate, that condition can last for months and months and in my case years and years.  I've experienced so many perforations in my left ear, unfortunately, the hole isn't big enough for complete drainage so I have to see my ENT consultant who uses microsuction to remove all the muck sitting behind the eardrum.  I can cope with post nasal drip and being blocked up, but ETD is so horrible.  Try a different steroid Nasal spray.  The one you're currently using didn't help me.  I use Flixonase Aqueous Nasal spray, which after taking a reducing course of Prednisolone steroid tablets is helping me a lot.

      Hi Anne,

I have had the nasonex and fliconase sprays because my nose is blocked they go from my nose straight onto my throat and burn my throat. Do you recommend any other sprays?

Hi again Michelle,  I live in England so not too sure if sprays are the same in US.  Have you tried Nasal Rinses.....I have but without much success !

I feel so sorry for you as it's such a continually horrible condition to suffer.

Constantly blocked nose is miserable and post nasal drainage too.  Do you suffer headaches too  ?

I've tried just about everything over the years without much success, just something sadly we have to learn to live with.  Like I said I can cope with anything except blocked ears !!

Wish I knew the  answer.  Maybe a weeks course of Prednisolone will give you some relief.  I take them approx every 2/3 years and the relief is just wonderful.  Probably wouldn't be prescribed them though unless you are suffering so badly it's affecting your life.
