Help - severe burning pain

two days ago I had my 6th surgery, this time with a laminectomy to implant a permanent spinal cord stimulator. The pain this is causing is something that is new to me. I had pain with the others but not like this. this pain is different. its a very sharp, intense burning pain. very painful to touch and I dont know what to do about it. I am on high doses of opiates, and lyrica and nothing is touching this pain. I have never felt this before and my surgeon stated that this surgery should be easier to handle than all the rest that were much more invasive. I cannot even sit in a chair, and it hurts severely to walk. the burning pain is like my back is on fire. I am 2 days out and its not letting up AT ALL. I am not sure this is normal. I dont feel any heat off of it, and there doesnt seem to be any major redness surrounding (from what I can see in the mirror). Has anyone had this sort of pain after a surgery? I am freaked out. I cannot even lay down to relieve it. Please help. Thank you in advance.

It is always best to let your Pain Dr and Surgeon know what is going on with your body. Would you mind telling us which SCS put in? I had the St Jude with Burst put in just under 2 months ago and I can tell you that I had never felt so much pain in my whole life. The incision where the battery was put in wasn't too bad, more like a regular surgery site would be. BUT, the place where the "paddles" were put in was almost more painful that I could stand. The incision felt hot to the touch but my husband said that he didn't see any redness to be concerned with.
I had my second checkup with my Neurosurgeon last week and he has approved me to start water therapy again. The incision site took several weeks with me in severe pain and I had trouble sleeping due to the pain, I craved sleep so that I would be out of the pain for a short while.
Now my incisions are only tender now when I touch them but I am finally able to sleep without that horrible pain. I couldn't even figure out if my regular back pain was hurting because the incision pain was so strong. This past week or so I am thinking that the St Jude SCS with Burst is helping me.
Please let us know what you find out.

that is exactly where MY pain is.. where they put the paddle in and exactly what your symptoms where. the battery pack... yup, normal surgical site feeling but the laminectomy... holy shXX. I had 5 other surgeries with major fusions and revisions and while it hurt bad, this pain is way over and beyond that. hurts to breath and coughing is excruiating. I have the medtronic brand. have they turned yours on? how is your relief?
I will let the doc know tomorrow, as there is nobody on call.
