i was wondering if anyone could help, i am really struggling to cope, i have had constant vaginal pain of various degrees sometimes to the extent it hurts just sitting since 8 weeks post op which is coming up to a year ago now. i had some granulation tissue removed 4 months after my vaginal hysterectomy and was told that this should sort it out, but it hasnt im still suffering now. all the doctors i have seen cant seem to find anything wrong every test i have comes back normal, even though i often have a discharge like thrush and it often feels like i have a water infection type pain everything comes back negative.... my last appointment i was told that the only thing they could do next is send me to a pain management course which is just crushing as im thinking now im going to have to spend the rest of my life with this awful pain.

hi claire
I had my tvh in Jan 2018.. I havent suffered with any pain but I was told by my consultant that pelvuc floor exercises are a must to do everyday for life if yiu can manage it daily.
I dont think granulated tissue will cause much pain but scar tissue inside would. I also was told exercises will tone and strength the weak muscles and tissues.
this is a hard op to recover from mentally but try and keep positive as it will improve.
fire away any more questions

I'm not sure if my experience will help you, as it's hard to identify the cause of pain. However, I experience extreme vaginal dryness, which can cause irritation and pain. I use witch hazel topically and vaginal vitamin E oil suppositories, which can be found on-line. Pelvic exercise is also very helpful.
I find that I have bladder infection type symptoms if I don't drink enough water throughout the day or if I let my bladder get too full.
Also, see if your doctor will look into nerve inflammation. I began experiencing shooting pains that doctors could not explain. By trial and error, it was determined to be nerve inflammation. My doctor used two rounds of lidocaine shots to settle the nerves down. I haven't experienced the shooting pains since.
