HELP! swollen/painful glands and many other ongoing symptoms

I am new to this group and am getting very frustrated about some weird ongoing health things that no doctor really seems to be concerned about. About a year ago (March 2013) I started to become fatigued and achy and just had no energy. I was always very active and enjoyed working out and would everyday for at least an hour - sometimes twice a day. & I never used to need much sleep - 5-6 hours was usually enough. I attributed that to the fact that it was about midpoint of second semester of my first year of college and I was just worn out. I was also constantly thirsty and nothing seemed to help so I went to the doctor and they checked for diabetes and that was ruled out, but they found that I had high cholesterol (283). I eat a fairly healthy diet so that was odd. Well, it didn't get better over the summer. I was still constantly tired, easily worn out, and achy. I also started getting headaches often which was weird because I very rarely got them - except for when I was young I can recall a couple of instances where I had terrible headaches. I have thick hair and have always shed, but it also started to get much thinner. In September, everything got much worse along with new symptoms. I would sleep 10-12 hours a night and nap anywhere from 2-6 hours during the day. I had headaches that would make me sick and extremely dizzy. I had trouble concentrating and finding words and was getting pretty forgetful of things i would have been easily able to remember before. I mix up my words so often now and have trouble getting the words out and enunciating them. I would get terrible pain/cramps in my legs to the point where I couldn't walk. Numbness and tingling sensations would shoot down my legs and arms lasting anywhere from a couple seconds to an hour. I would be standing or get up and my legs would feel so week that i would fall down. I get out of breath just walking and have chest pain. back pain and neck pain are constant - some days are worse than others. I ended up fainting one day and had an MRI and some white brain matter changes were found and a neurologist said that they were just because of migraines. I was also prescribed medicine for the migraines and nothing seemed to help - they just made me feel weird. I was sent to a rheumatologist who said I had none of her diseases but that something is definitely not right. I have been tested for mono, lymes, celiac disease.. at one point my doctor thought parathyroid tumor because PTH was 160 something (back to upper normal now) but he doesn't think so anymore now. the doctor i am seeing only gave me one physical exam - like listening to my heart, checking my lymph nodes, eyes, ears, throat, etc - when i first saw him in september. when i went to a follow up appointment a couple weeks ago, i was very adament that my neck, chest, armpit area, and groin regions were extra sore and that they had been for about two months but it seemed to be getting worse recently. so, he felt them and found that my cervical, axillary, supraclavicular, and inguinal regions were enlarged. with my body being achy all the time, i'm thinking that it is likely they have been swollen for a while and that i just hadn't noticed it until it got worse. i always felt like i had "knots" in those regions but it seemed normal to me because it's felt like that for so long. he didn't say much about it other than that he would check me for mono again (which came back negative) and i now have an appointment with an infectious disease specialist this week... i've done my fair share of looking online and the things that seem to make the most sense would be rheumatoid arthritis or lupus (but the rheumatologist ruled those out) or lymphoma or some type of cancer. my CK levels have been elevated since september - at least 200 points higher each time i've been checked. my LDH level has continuously gone up and is now at the upper limit..... still fatigued, achy, headaches aren't as often or as bad anymore, still get random bad pains in my arms and legs.. still the same concentrating and speech things as i mentioned earlier.. back pain and neck pain.. i feel like i'm going crazy because the doctors just keep dismissing everything as no big deal. does anyone have any insight or a similar experience to any of this?
sorry this is such a long post but i figured the more information i could offer the more insight someone may have.

CDC test will give a false negative the best way is to research DNA CONNEXIONS and do there urine test no such thing as a false positive in urine. It test for various borellia and 13 coinfection. It would be good to rule it out but it looks like many of your symptoms fall into lyme symptoms

I know this is two years old! But I'm suffering exactly the same. I've considered so many illnesses and I've now been diagnosed through rheumatologist and having tons of tests and MRI that I have ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis. I have many other issues but it's taken me years of pushing and fighting to get this far. If you get back to me on this post then I'll give you my email and maybe we can compare and maybe get our answers and get better. Which lets face it, is all we want! 🙂

DeLeeta,
I think your response had a huge significance in most of these undiagnosed cases. Most doctors are ignorant when it comes to Lyme from what I have researched. I would suggest that every one find an llmd and get tested if you are having symptoms like this with normal tests. I have over 60 symptoms associated with Lyme and am just now seeking help. The only one that is stumping me is the swollen lymph nodes. I have had one in my neck for 10 years and recently have a few more coming up. Was that a symptom for you? It doesn't seem to be in most of the stories I have been reading. I would love to talk to you more about this away from the forum if you are interested.

Hi Kimberly here I have been going through the same thing for the past six months I cannot figure out what is happening I have narrowed it down to possible viral or bacteria or I am also looking at the fact that when they did a CAT scan 6 months ago 3 days after I was so sick and weak I asked if they use the same chemical for the CAT scan and they said no they were using a new type of chemical for the CAT scans they're supposed to give a better picture I am trying to stay on top of this I have seen several doctors switch doctors every time I show up in the ER with so much pain the say it always looks like it's some kind of arthritis the checking me out now for arterial arthritis which is big cell and can cause the arteries to be swollen which produces a stroke or possible heart attack . I keep having all kinds of flushes where my face and body will get really red seems to be letting out heat my body aches on a constant basis but it moves around my body it's so strange six months ago I was normal on the upside eating an anti-inflammatory diet is helping as well as green tea matcha,,,next though I'm going to be trying to drink some mud that's the holistic mud to clean and clear toxic waste. I am 49

Hello, wowe you got a lot of stuff going on. Have you ever had thyroid hormone levels checked? Or your Cortisol? Adrenals and thyroid play a role in energy
. Now, the lymph nodes. Have you had any type of images taken or biopsies.?generally speaking normal healthy lymph nodes do not stay enlarged for extended periods of time. They also should not be bigger than 2 cm or round. If at anytime you find one that is hard and doesn't move, request a biopsy. Also, they should not feel rubbery. Your symptoms range widely.Hopefully by now they have ruled somethings out for you and not just said I don't know so lets call it an autoimmune problem and dope you up. Your Ck and lipids are regulated by the International workings of the complicated metabolic system. I wouldon't get a high contrast CT or Mr I of your lymphatic system. Also, when they check your thyroid make sure they look at your FREE T3. They will tell you that is enough and it's not. T3 shows how well your body converts T4. I hope you get this resolved. Let me know if you have any questions. I hope you are better.

I was drawn to all of these posts as I have been experiencing things very similar in nature to basically everyone on here. What doesnt make sense though, unless just coincidental, my symptoms started after possible injury related activity.
First and foremost I was diagnosed with CML- Chronic Myelogenous leukemia at 17, I am now 28. It is in complete remission. I saw my oncologist 9/12 and my blood work was perfect, no abnormal values and they do a test for the leukemia cells which was completely negative for the second time. CML is treated with daily oral chemotherapy lifelong which keeps it in remission. Usually when they run the test that tests for the leukemia cells called a BCR-ABL there is always a very small amount detected in the blood but it is considered in remission because it is not enough to cause any problem however as I said twice now (6 months apart) the testings were negative which most people do not achieve.
When asked questions about how I feel it is hard to answer because I feel like Ii could be feeling ill and just not recognize it because it is normal for me.
I have terrible allergies, the medication I am on called Tasigna or nilotinib, can cause flu/cold like symptoms and sinus conguesion. It can also cause muscle and back aches, headaches and a whole list of items. I eat pretty healthy, I take care of myself I work out every day and I have also had an issue with headaches my whole life. Especially now when the weather is rainy and yucky I am achy and tired and get headaches. Some days I wake up feeling like I could run a marathon, other days I wake up feeling like an arthritic old lady but there is nothing I can do about it, I need this med to live, it isnt debilitating and could certainly be worse and I am not going to miss out on life because I feel fatigued, I jusy push through it and go about life. With that being said I feel like if I do get symptoms of fatigue or whatnot beause of an illness I may not recognize it due to it also being "normal" for me.
What started was for about a month or so my back has been tight and sore and I have had a lot of low back pain- again, not abnormal for me but seemingly a little worse. I also believe I may have tweaked it wrong at the gym from improper lifting, plus I just moved so I have been moving around heavy furniture, objects and boxes. But no big deal.
Last Monday night at the gym I did shoulder exercises, and I was getting more sore when going to the gym due to moving, I have been busy and off of my routine, only going like a day a week when I'm used to 4-6. Last Tuesday 9/20 I woke up with a sore lump on my left shoulder right beside my spine like in my trapezius area, it bulges and almost looks just like my spine how ur cervical vertebrae stick out, when i bend my head forward. Its about the size of a grape. It is firm but not rock hard, it seems like it moves a little bit but not much or maybe I am just noticing the skin around it moving, with that being said if it is moveable it is so little its not completely recognizeable. Either that day or the next day, I forget I found another one. This one is straight up from the first one, beside my spine right at the bottom of my hair line. It's characteristics are slightly different. It is about the size of a pea and it is firm but doesnt feel like a rock or a pebble, no rough edges and doesnt seem to move. No other symptoms feeling like it may be neck tension etc. I have had a lot of changes in my life recently. including moving, a lot of stress, starting a new job, falling out with my mother etc. plus I have had muscular injuries in the shoulder/trap areas in the past.
Then last Saturday Morning I woke up sleeping on my neck tilted to the left, all kinked up in a weird position and it was sore, I noticed a lymph node right below my left ear on my jawline. It feel pretty firm but not rock hard with no jagged edges or anything and it seems to move some. It is not painful, neither is the small one under my hair line however the one on my trap area was very painful, but it isnt anymore so I am not sure if it was just the whole muscle around it that was sore was working out or if it was the actual lump itself. Then just this past Monday I was at my friends house and we were feeling around to make sure we didnt feel any other nodes, and we diligently checked she is a CRNP, and nothing. Then suddenly just Tuesday when I woke up i felt them all the way down the left side of my neck to above my collarbone. Those are all soft, squishy and very moveable. I am not running a fever but I also all my life have never really gotten fevers especially now that I am on the oral chemo med, my immune system is compromised. Even when I have had sinus infections, bronchitis, pneumonia I never really had a fever and if i did it was low grade in the 99's.
I had a CT scan done yesterday and it came back that I had 2 nodules and enlarged lymph nodes on both sides of my neck...... which we already knew. So it basically told me nothing. The radiologist said it could be from infection/inflammation although at least as far as I know I dont feel sick at all. None of the nodes or the nodules are red, pink, warm, swollen or inflammed and they dont have a head or anything on them like a boil or abscess would.
Another weird thing- Friday night I was in the squatting position doing something for a long period of time. I have bad hips, they are out of alignment and I have been told that by a physical therapist and been told may times that and my short stature (I am 5'0) and 104lbs which also is why my nodes are more palpable, and I lack a large curve in my back causes me back pain.
But Friday after being in the squatting position for sometime when I went to get up my right hip popped and hurt my my leg went numb with symptoms of sciatica. I had pain in my low back that radiated around my groin and down my leg and my foot felt tingly and numb like it was asleep. This lasted for 2 days. Taking 100mg of gabapentin did help this feeling completely go away. Now I dont have it in my right foot anymore but it feels like it is in both feet, they feel tingly and numb like they are falling asleep frequently and when I woke up this am and yesterday am my hands and arms were asleep and I had to shake them like ya know when they are asleep like ya do. I was sleeping in a neutral position though on my back with my hands at my sides, and on a memory foam pillow. The sensation isnt as bad as what it was in my hip when it first happened friday, it is less worse but in more areas as I said now both feet and hands sometimes, moreso my feet. Also I took a flexeril the other day which knocked me out and made me feel like dirt the next day, and I have been taking a lot of klonopin because my nerves are really bad over all of this. I am also very sensitive to meds. My lower back is moreso tight than pain really, tight and stiff and then the numbness and tingling going down my legs.
My family doctor sent the CT to my oncologist who follows me for my leukemia and he is to call me today after lunch time sometime to go over what the plan is going to be. There's just so many different things going on and so many possibilities of what it could be????
I was thinking Mono, I dont have the acute illness but I have heard of people who had mono and only had swollen lymph nodes and/or were a little tired.
Also though of Guillan-Baree or CMV- I do have the herpes virus, as I have for years. Also thought of possible lymphoma? or Sjogrens. I do have a dry mouth occasionally, I feel more so lately than usual and my eyes are very dry, have been for years. I started wearing contacts in 2011 and I had to try like 5 different pair until we could find a pair my eyes tolerated. They dry out quickly and I have to replace them often before 30 days is up and there are many days by the end of an 8-9 hour day they are bothering me. I also know people who can sleep in theirs etc. I can not even close my eyes for 5 minutes, literally 5 minutes no exaggeration without them being extremely dry.
Today I feel like I feel wiped out, headachey, more achy in the back, a little dizzy and just blah. However Monday I literally had a panic attack over this, I have been having extreme anxiety, exrremely stressed out and it is raining and bad weather here so who knows if the feeling is from being overwhelmed and anxious or really illness.

Try looking at Guillain Barre Syndrome I have had very similar symptoms since June and I'm booked in for a lumbar puncture/ spinal tap tomorrow. I have been in hospital recently as this thing has just taken over me and for me it feels like I'm partially paralysed. I have been so frustrated not having a diagnosis but fingers crossed I will get one after this!
Guillain Barre syndrome is definitely one to look up and you not heard of it as it is a rare disease

I did think of that altho my legs have actually been feeling better. The large lump on my shoulder has gone down but the small one that is about the pea size or slightly larger on my neck, left side also right below my hairline is still present and unchanged. The hard lymph node under my left ear/jaw is still hard present and unchanged. The lymph nodes down my neck including slightly above my left collar bone are the same which is squishy and move able like little peas. I have no feelings and really no other symptoms. I'm still a little tired but I'm in grad school, starting a new job tomorrow and just relocated 2 hours away so i have a lot of anxiety and stress aside from this. Then you add this and I've been taking a lot of klonopin.
So basically right now not really any symptoms other than the nodes and nodules

Did you have a lot of swollen lymph nodes at all? That is my main thing i am very worried about the lumps and lymph nodes. The one lump is unchanged but the other has gone down by over half the size and you have to press around to feel it. Before you could aee it from just looking at me

Yes, I've had a lot of those problems about 2 years now; and doctors dismiss me too. I wonder about lymphoma with you and me. Hope to hear from you.
