Firstly, be proud that you’ve recognised you have a problem and want to do something about it.
This forum is full of very genuine members who’ve had or are still having alcohol related problems and are non judgemental.
Before trying to offer advice, I’d need to know how long you’ve been drinking and what are you drinking and how much?
From my experience the thought of never drinking again was so depressing. Alcohol is a depressant, so the more you drink, the more depressed you become.
There are are several options for you to consider, not drinking at all and relying on willpower alone. tapering where you gradually reduce the amount you’re drinking, or using medication, which is what I went for.
Let us have a few more details and you’ll get more replies

Youve had an excellent reply from one of the forums best successes.
Living proof of what you can achieve with sheer determination.
I used medication. What is your actual goal. Do you want to stop completely, or controlled drinking?

I'd second looking into The Sinclair Method, since you're still drinking. It's pretty good at stopping the blackouts and month by month you want less and less to drink.
What country are you in, Adreena?

please explain a bit more about yourself, if you like. Check out The Sinclair Method for starters.
cheers
