Help to Id a small white raised patch on knuckle

I have had this small raised white bump on the outside of the knuckle of my little finger for about 4 months and it doesn't seem to be getting any smaller and has recently become red around the borders. it feels smooth to the touch and doesn't hurt but is just more visible now.

I would appreciate any ideas on what this might be and if it is something I should get looked at by a dermatologist.
