Help urinating at night.

From time to time when I get up to pee at night even though I have alot of pressure it is difficult to begin the stream. It oftens takes a couple of minutes to be rewarded with a weak stream...Daytime urination has not been an issue.
The last few days this has become a nightly occurrence, and seems to be more difficult to pee each time. This is just before I am leaving for 2 weks in France.
Any suggestions on anything that can be done to help urinating- worried about the 8 hour flight especially. If I have issues in France I can always consult a doctor, bur would rather not.

Do you know your PVR (post void residual)? If not, find out from your urolgist, or have yourself scanned in the office.
There could be a number of reasons why voiding is more difficult at night. In addition the scan, a 24 hour urine log would be helpful.
I agree with those suggesting this is a progression of BPH/LUTS and not overactive bladder. If you haven't tried a muscle relaxant like Flomax or Daily Cialis, that is usually the first step.
Why after all these years the immediate concern of flying and not being able to urinate? Do you have reason to believe that you wouldn't be able to urinate at all? If it does come to the point where the inability to urinate becomes a real concern, and if the drugs don't work, then you will either need some sort of prostate reduction surgery or learn how to self catheterize yourself.

I found the Michael Mosley 5:2 fasting system helped me. It's a lifestyle change to slow down ageing not a diet you cease. but decrease in abdominal inner fat is a helpful side effect!

I've been doing 16/8 fasting and I'm doing great in the weight loss department. Low carb also but night time stream has been pretty bad the last week or 2. I'm wonder.if low carb is affecting night time flow or is it something else. Day time flow is great

I've suffered from nocturia like yours for many years, off and on before and after a TURP and tamsulosin (currently considering urolift). I don't know about others' experience but as far as truly practical expedients are concerned I keep a very light, screw-top, plastic bottle by my bed and urinate in it whenever necessary at night. It has become so much of a habit that I don't awake while doing it. In the morning I have no memory of having urinated and yet I know that I've gone several times. In my experience, AUR doesn't occur out of the blue. Most of the time one can excrete a sufficient amount to avoid AUR, *if one is patient while trying to urinate*. There are of course restrooms on all long flights, but if you really want to enjoy your vacation (if that's what it is), you ought to ask your uro for appropriate medication.
