My husband was just diagnosed about one month ago with Buergers Disease.  I am typing this for him because this disease has affected his fingers on both hands.  My husband was a heavy smoker but he has been diligent to quit.  I am very proud of him.  We have had NO cooperation with 3 doctors to help him with his pain.  They did prescribe Nifediprine-not sure if spelled right-but he was miserably allergic.  My husband says that there is not enough pain pills in this world.  We have an appt. on Monday with a hospital in Chicago to see what they can do to help.  Could you give us some ideas on what medications help all of you????  Please know that my heart goes out to all of you because I see what my husband has to deal with.  Bless You All!!!

I haven't gone this route since I believe mine is under control now but I had read somewhere that a dermatologist can help. There is a new med, ill prosit or something like that.

I would try the Vasculitis website in the UK. They have been very helpfull with my condition. To join is free and they send a news letter out. It is only an Email so I think it would be the same for you. I am tending to sit with my hands in fists not realising. Due to the pain. I am on Azathioprine 150mg and steroids. Gabapentin helps with the pain but It give me nightmares. My wife does all the research for me. She has just been on utube. Put in your Illness people and professionals talking. Great information. Regards to you both, Jarvis.

For pain, doctors have tried lots of different drugs, Some good, and some not so good. I have tried gabapentin, but switched to 300mg  Lyrica. Im on about 240mg of morphine. Among other drugs for circulation.

    Hi

Sorry if this is a late response - just noticed your post. Note you are not getting help from doctors (this is normal because they don't know anything about to disease) I know its not near you but the top guy in the US who can help you is Peter A. Merkel, MD, MPHChief, Division of Rheumatology

Professor of Medicine, Professor of Epidemiology in Biostatistics and Epidemiology. Call 800-789-PENN (7366)

Met him at a seminar in London in April - a true inspiration!! Good luck to you both!

Hi there, im really sorry to read that you suffer from this disease, ive been diagnosed about 3 months ago, im a pack a day smoker and after a vacation trip i started feeling my hands itch, at first i thought it was some kind of allergic reaction to some bug bite or something but then the itch and pain start to spread to other fingers and the palm of my hand i tried Allegra for the allegric reaction i thoiught i had but the next morning my other hand started to itch, i went to the hospital and got very lucky cause i found this vascular surgeon (the only one in my country) who in a matter of 20 miin came with the diagnosis, she is amazing, she gave me Dexketoprofen trometamol (Enantyum) for the swolen and the pain and she also gave me Cilostazol a vasodilator that works by relaxing the muscles in your blood vessels to help them dilate (widen) in a matter of a week i was symptoms free. The bad is that im a bit stuborn on quitting smoke but after reading all the risks that Buergers has im thinking very seriously to start quitting, im not sure how im gonna do it but i will.
