Help with flu-like symptoms

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has something similar....

Before perimenopause, I would have the usual few days before my (very regular) periods where I would have standard PMS symptoms. Now i feel so much worse before each period - which are highly irregular both in time and flow and I also feel awful in between (just under the weather). It's like having the flu - headache, sore throat (almost like a burning), achy neck, body aches, sniffles, cold chills and hot face (no temp). I feel terrible today.

Does anyone else suffer with this? Should I expect this all through the perimenopause/menopause? This Is alongside all the other peri symptoms I have.

Thanks!

Becky

    Hi Becky,

You are not alone, at all.

I have been trying to make sense of my symptoms so I can try to sound intelligent at my gyn appt in 2 weeks (asking for upped dosage of hrt), and almost every day since August I have notes about aches (head and shoulders every day, ribs most days, hands/hips/knees/feet every few days, and flu-like burning skin every day for a week when I am spotting, and at least once a week until the next time).

The hot face but no fever, I have that regularly too.

And I am always tired but not sleepy, if that makes any sense.

And find myself with dry cough in the mornings now.

I suspect strongly it's hormone related, as I had the same notes in my journal 2 yrs ago, and thought I was fighting a virus that wouldn't quit. Went on Estradiol patch/progesterone pill for hot flashes/night sweats/dryness, and the aches and flulike feelings subsided to a manageable level as well.
