Help with hypothyroidism

Just to apdate you I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid and had been taking 25mg of thyroxine for 4 months. I felt much better then my symptoms came back. The doctor increased my dose to 50mg but called me saying that I'd been misdiagnosed and my thyroid is fine. I came off the medication and the past two weeks I've been very anxious, depressed and spent several days in bed. I don't know what to do as two doctors have said my thyroid is underactive and I need medication yet I'm now being told very confidently I'm fine. What should I do?

    Hi

what were now.your TSH T4 and T3 levels when first diagnosed and what are they now.

Give yourself another three months for your body to adjust after quitting time he meds.

The meds can suppress your own thyroxin production... so when you go off the meds, it takes a while for your thyroid levels to get back to normal.

Thanks for this. I didn't think about my own levels needing to settle.

Did your doctor say your levels were very high? Did you ask him why he decided to stop the meds? Most likely your levels were high. Call back for your lab results and the reason why. Too much T3 in your brain.is toxic can even cause hyperthyroid type dementia, muscle wasting, jitteriness, even fatigue, etc.
