Help with iodine please

Hi there,

I have had an extremely dry mouth for over 8 months now and was wondering if it could be an iodine deficiency as this is a sign. I have been taking 450mcg of lugols iodine for a week and this is the only thing that has made an ever so slightest difference.

I can now sit comfortably with my mouth closed, but my mouth still gets incredibly dry when I open my mouth or speak.

I was just wondering if anyone has supplemented with iodine before and if you think my saliva will continue to improve.

Thank you in advance x

I think you would have worse symptoms than that with iodine deficiency. Why not go to a doctor and ask them to check if it is iodine deficiency?

Have you ever been to the doctor? did you do any blood tests ?:

I've had various blood tests to rule things out, I asked about iodine deficiency but they don't test for that x

You can do a very crude iodine deficiency test at home. Before bed, use tincture of iodine (the orange variety) to paint a 3-inch square patch on the inside of your forearm, the inside of a thigh, or your abdomen.

The next morning, inspect the painted area. If all the color remains, then your iodine level is adequate. If all the color is gone, then you definitely have an iodine deficiency. Varying degrees of color loss correspond to your degree of iodine deficiency.
