Hi jagruti, you haven't said why you stopped  taking your Bonviva med. Were you having unpleasant side-effects?  Were you unhappy with the regime of taking it? Or did you feel it  just wasn't doing you any good?  No matter which of these appplies, you really need to talk this over with the GP or Rheumatologist who prescribed them for you. They're really used to this - the're not mind-readers and, if they don't hear to the contrary, will asssume that you're happy with your treatment. . . Keep in touch. Kind regards.

    Hi

I agree with the last post......I take those {they are the once a month ones????} You should talk to whoever prescribed them for you and see what they say

      Hi

I dont know if there are 2 of us on these forums  LOL but I'm the one who had a second hip replacement and was doing an NHS exercise (15 months ago) and there was a crack and I had fractured my "greater trochanter bone"??? up beside the hip replacement is the best I can tell you. Anyway one bone moved so far away from the other that they will never knit again so I'm on crutches permanentlyeek Everyone {consultant, physio and nurse} asked if I had osteoporosis when I was in.....I said no but I had osteopinia {precurser to osteoporosis.} but that was it, they asked but did nothing. So when I got home....the next day!!! I rang my GP and had another DEXA scan and yes....osteoporosis

      So thats my story  wink

Didn't register this somewhow. I saw comments by  an "EileenH" a while back and then ohers by yourself and maybe I mixed you both up . . . maybe you have a twin!!  Anyway good luck with the Bonviva, I don't know a lot about it excpt that it's not that different from the other "workhorses" of Fosamas and Actonel. Just one thing - does the UK OP Society advocate the use ONLY of non-generic bisphosphonates? They do there and now pharmacists will dispense non-generic OP meds. IF requensted by the doc. Otherwise you get the cheep and cheerful ones. . . .  J

We are not qualified to advise but just share our experiences. You need the advice of qualified practitioners. What is your t score? Is the bonviva tablet to help build your bones and stop losing density? Where are you? I am in Australia and have not been offered bonviva tablets.

As for the UK  OP society........I havent a clue what they advise, sorry

The only people I've been in touch with are my GP, consultant {Orthopaedic}, and the hospital where I have had a few DEXA scans.

Thanks for the contact. Will keep an eye out for the 'evil twin' !  Mind yourself.

PS. It seems to me that, though the hip bone may be "iffy" and delicate, the head is pretty powerful and more than makes up !!  Love
