Help With Sleep

Posted , 5 users are following.

I go to bed quite early whilst I'm ill usually around 7pm and try to watch tv, if I'm not nodding off by 9.30pm I take a couple of sleep aids sometimes 4, usually within half an hour I'm drifting of.

Whilst they are great I'd like to try something else and wondered what other folk do or take to help with sleep. I've had a go at meditations for sleep with no success.

Any hints, tips or natural meds would be appreciated.

What really works for me is listening to audio meditations for anxiety, sleep, etc. found on YouTube. I put in my earbuds, lay down and listen and often I don't make it through the entire meditation because I fall asleep. They completely relax my mind and body. Just search for guided  meditation for sleep or whatever you want. I don't use any medication because these work great.

     hope this helps

Thanks for reply Jan, tried a couple of nights doing just that but had no luck, maybe I'm just trying to get to sleep too early, just like going to bed early as it becons the end of the day, I hate the days at the moment, I'm either crying or riddled with anxiety maybe get an hour or so where I'm calm, at least I get a really good nights sleep with sleep aids often 9-10 hours which I find a blessing, just love the feeling of getting drowsy and starting to drift off, just don't want to rely on sleep aids for it.

Watching TV before bed can really throw off your sleep cycle.  Exposing yourself to the light of the TV supresses malatonin production in the brain.  Melatonin is the chemical that initiates our sleep.

I downloaded a rain sounds app, it really relaxes me listening to rain through my headphones. Worth a go smile
