Help with sleeping after breaking my ankle, foot, fibula and tibula.

I’m 3 weeks post op and in a boot. I can’t sleep in this thing! I have so much pain in the mornings evenings and nighttime with a small window of tolerance during the day that if I don’t start getting some good healing sleep I think I may loose my marbles! Any suggestions welcome!

If your boot was like mine...…...toes to knee, Velcro straps over a hard plastic front plate.   I had the same sleeping problem.  It hurt so much at night I cried.  What helped me was not using the hard plastic front plate at night AND not pulling all the Velcro strapping so tight.  My foot and leg wasn't going any where and I ended up not using the front plate during to day either.  I healed just fine.  Good luck you need your sleep!

Keep it elevated as much as possible. Like, keep your ankle higher than your heart. Otherwise swelling will get worse as the day goes on and in the mornings like you said. Also, alternating nsaids religiously like advil(ibuprofen) and Tylenol(acetaminophen). Just be careful, if you have any pain meds they likely have acetaminophen in it so don’t go above daily allowable amount.
