Hi

i wonder if someone here can help me with some advice .

Here is my background

About 3/4 weeks ago I started with cold which developed in a bad cough that lasted a week. The day my cough finished I started to feel like I was on a boat . Like a swaying feeling. I just thought it would go away but it has not over 2 weeks later .

Main symptom is this swaying on a boat feeling , also if I move my arms lot like cleaning something it worse . It not bad lying down .

I also have headaches and what feels like pressure at times on face. Kinda like sinus pain. I have little to no congestion .

i went to see my GP last Thursdsy who said possible labyrinths although I do not have typical vertigo spinning or hearing issues .

She also did a blood test which showed low ferritin . I am always anaemic

She gave me a nose spray that might help if it sinus .

I not improving at all and feel worse prob over the week. It really getting me down

I am worried that it either something serious or that it won't go away .

anyone offer ideas or reassurance .

sorry

ellie

Please look at the other posts they are very useful. I have been diagnosed with labrynthitis but was never given any information on how to cope. It's very debilitating and can bring on anxiety too so be aware. Some people it is a short term thing but others it's long lasting. All I know is this forum has helped me to understand the conditin more and we are not alone.

      Thanks Helen

Do you think mine sounds like that too. I got impession doctor were not sure. It not spinning it more a swaying like you on a boat all time or on a bouncy castle.

I worried it something serious. I already suffer from health anxiety so this not going to help me at all

Any tips? Or any suggestion of good posts to read

      Thanks

You need to address the low ferritin issue as it can also contribute to the dizzy feeling.  Mine was low and I have finally started to see it rise back toward normal.  It is still low and it can be a slow process to get it elevated back to normal ranges.  Mine was at 7 and after 6 months of prenatal vitamins, because they have a high iron content and they are not too harsh on the digestive tract, it is only back to 14.  Also, for the anemia and low ferritin did they check to make sure that you do not have any GI bleed?  That is the most common cause of low serum iron and ferritin.

Yes I working on that also. I started at 12 and now up to 18. Still low. I take spa tone also with liquid iron I cannot take the iron tablets

Yes I have had GI on both ends!

I have short cycles 20/21 days so that is what they think is reason

Just wish this horrible feeling would go

I had a follow up doctors appt today as my ears are still feeling full and I have swaying sensations. They are sending me for a C.T scan just to make sure nothing else is going on. I do have a dull headache but mainly my ears feel pressured and the swaying is awful. I can't be in a car as it makes it worse. I still think it's something to do within the ears. I wish it would go away as I know the anxiety will reduce then. Never had anything like this before and it is scary but I'm hoping it will just go as quick as it came on. Also just had a blood test so it will be interesting if my iron levels are low like yours.

Will let you know what the outcome is when I've had the scan.

    Hi

My dizziness started in Feb. I woke up and my eyes felt like they were spinning in my head. Lasted a couple of days then went but came back about 2 weeks ago. This time just dizziness and swaying all the time with the fullness in my ears along with headaches.

Well fingers crossed you will get answers soon.

    Hello Ellie

I'm still dizzy but a small improvement. I tried acupuncture for the first time ever today. Not really for the dizziness but mainly for anxiety. Obviously not a miracle cure but found it a different approach. The oddest thing was the lady who did my acupuncture said she has exactly the same thing as us. She had been for a CT scan and an ENT specialist but all came back negative. Hers has been 4 months now. So strange to meet someone with the same things as everyone here. She evenue tried acupuncture on herself but that didn't help the dizziness so I'm not holding out much hope. Just want to deal with the anxiety in order for me to cope better with the dizziness etc. I have to say the ears and dizziness have improved a tiny bit in the last few days. If it is a viral thing then I never want to get it again. How's yourself? Any improvement? I wish I had better news for you.

      Hi

Glad you improved a tiny bit.

I thought I was improving over the weekend last week. I did not feel it as much during the day although it was back in evenings. Same on Tuesday but Wed and Thursday it back again same as ever. Swaying and feelign like I walking on a cloud at times. I am trying not to get anxious over it as it does make it worse . I am not getting so many sore heads or sinus pain as I did the week before. I go  back to my GP tomorrow but dont think she will do much. When do you get your scan ? Do you see ENT? Also how was your iron levels. I also find mine is worse when I tired.

i have also tried accupuncture (2 sessions )but it made not difference to dizzyness. Going to try one more session with different person as my usual guy was on holiday.

Have you tried sudafed or sea sickness tablets?  Not sure if they are worth trying?  I trying to keep going too but it hard somedays.

Mine just appeared one am when I got up and they day before I had a bad cold and cough for over 10 days which disappeared the same day. It does sound like a viral thing! horrible . I try to say least I not in pain really but it still yeuch and I feel queasy at times.

    Hi Ellie

Feeling bad again today. I thought it was too good to be true. We have an 18 week waiting list for a CT scan and ENT appt!!!. Don't think I can hold out that lone.

Not sure if the acupuncture helped yesterday at all but I won't give up just yet.

Have doctors next week for blood test results. I just feel so unwell all over really today. Can hardly do a thing. My head is actually hurting today.

Just wish I could get an answer it's so horrible not knowing what's going on.

Hope you get good news at your doctors this time.

    Take care.

I’ve had this going on 5 months now- since December 2017. I got a virus (fever, swollen glands, etc) and then started the constant on a boat feeling. I had also just been to Disney with my family where we were on a boat a lot and all the rides, airplane, etc. The ENT and Neurologist tell me it’s labrynthitis and the vestibular physical therapist says it’s mal debarqument syndrome.

Nothing has helped. Over time it does feel like it’s getting better/less intense, but it’s still here, 24/7 no matter what I’m doing.  I’m trying to keep up with the vestibular physical therapy as I think that may help and I’ve seen a chiropractor which I think is slowly helping. I started taking vitamin B and magnesium supplements. I’m trying my very best to stay positive, but I am getting so tired of dealing with this.

Hi I too have MdDS... 7 years now.. it comes and goes. I think you are doing all the right things to get though this.. well done!  The big difference between MdDS and PPPD are: with MdDS you feel better in motion eg you would feel better in a car and worse when you get out... also with PPPD you may feel better lying down, I still feel like I'm rocking with MdDS... anxiety is huge for both these problems, so if you can deal with the anxiety's, you will find your symptoms will ease off...unfortunately it's all about time...

Hi guys, I would definitely look into PPPD.. it usually starts with a occurrence of acute or episodic vestibular or balance related problems....
