Hi all

After taking antibiotics for 2 straight years for a tooth infection I developed a bloody diarrhea that lasted 4 days. 10 days after the diarrhea my pinky finger become swollen for an hour. The weeks after I had random dizzy pains but some 6 months after the diarrhea I started having pain in my sacroiliac joint. Then, the pain spread to my coccyx and sides of the pelvis¿bursitis?

-The pain improves with exercise but also when lying down.

-The pain worsens when sitting.

-The pain dissapears AT NIGHT,I wake up without pain and it starts again 30 minutes after waking up.

-I don´t have stiffness at all, best moment of the day:when I wake up.

-HLA B27 negative, tested 2 times.

-Inflammatory markers (ESR,PCR) in normal ranges.

-MRI and XRays of the sacroiliac joint came normal.

Doctors told me that it was reactive arthritis and that it would go away(It was a year ago and it definetely didn´t go away)

Anyone here who didn´t have pain at night and stiffness?

Thanks

    Hi Sebastian

I have terrible pain at night. It comes into my dreams too. I have to take amytryptaline to ease it and help me sleep. I also wake very stiff and with a low back pain. I have to have a hot shower as soon as I get up and take my pain killers straight away. My pain only eases when I lay on my side, but not for long, as I then become stiff from staying still. My ESR is normally OK and I am positive HLA B27.

I am sorry that you are suffering so much. It sounds like they need to run some more tests to further investigate your symptoms. Cross fingers they will sort it out for you soon x

    Hello Sebastian

I think when you say anitbiotics, do you mean DMARDS eg I have started on Sulfazalazine.

I am 53 years old.  6 months diagnosis with SpA (SA).  Si joints inflammed on MRI.  Xray still ok.  Very litte stiffness ever, slightly in morning (i have always done a lot of sttetch exercises etc).  Uptil last month I have liked to walk and be active.  After starting drugs now feel inactive wtih pain in Osephegus getting worse.  HLA B27 negative.  Initially ESR AND CRP WBC were quite high, have been ok lately.  Had H Pylori, will check again in 3 weeks.  Have Hypotranemia.  Everything is worst from sitting too much or doing the wrong things, which one tends to pay for fir days after.

Still searching for solutions, massage helps.  Physio (for me) doesnt.  BEST OF LUCK

Hi, Sebastian 38246. U don't have to be HLA-B27+ to be dx'ed with AS. Most of us are positive but one doesn't HAVE to be. Also, some who ARE positive will nvr develop AS at all. I'm actually thankful I WAS dx'ed because my youngest daughter had been complaining of ankle and hip pain since she was 8 and was tested for everything they could think of. Then, u tested positive and told her doc (who was SUPPOSEDLY to be an ortho specialist) to test her, since it's genetic. She's positive also. So, we both see the same Rheumy now.

I don't think RA goes away. Maybe look for a 2nd opinion. Seek out a rheumatologist, maybe. He/she may be able to sort this out. I hope u feel better.
