Hematoma/blood clot behind stitches after Vaginal hysterectomy

Posted , 4 users are following.

Two week Postop and diagnosed with bacterial infection caused by blood clot behind stitches which drains slowly.

Been given antibiotic co-amoxiclav for 7 days.

Does anyone know how long these blood clots take to clear up?

Thanks for any answers.

    Hi Evelyn

I had a tvh 12 wks ago but I'm sorry I didn't suffer with blood clots etc but I'm sure once you finished the tablets you will see a difference in the blood clots coming away. If they are draining that's good news I think.

Do you have another appointment to check your recovery love? These ops sure take time to heal.

I'm nearly there but not fully revovered. I still have small stitches coming away but I'm healing brilliantly so my proff consultant told me. Keep resting and ask away if you need anymore help.x

      Thanks Welshgirl67

Yes I hope the antibiotic works to clear this up.

I go back in 2 to 3 weeks for a further ultrasoubd so should kniw if infection is cleared.

    Ohhh Evelyn.

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. Personally, I’ve never have not gone through this.  Did your physician disclose where your infection and blood clot may have developed from?

    This must be terribly uncomfortable.

I wish that I could forward or share information about what your experiencing.

Please stay in touch and follow your physician’s instructions.

    Feel better. 💕🤗💕🤗💕

      Hi Hot tempered

Apparently clots forming behind the stitches is fairly common. The problem being that they don't drain away so the old blood starts to become infected with bacteria. Which is what has happened to me.

I am doing all the hospital said to help in my recovery and return in a few weeks for further ultrasoubd scan. Hopefully if should be cleared by then. Fingers crossed.

      Hi Evelyn

I only take natural remedies but have found garlic tablets and mannuka honey Amazing for bacteria. It eats it all up in no time. You can get from Amazon or any health shop. This isn't nice for you but you will be back to you in no time.🙏🙏🙏🙏???

      Thank you

I will get some of the honey and start the garlic after the antibiotics course is completed just in case they are counter productive.

Normaly I only take natural products but a vault hematoma is dangerous and the bacterial build-up can cause sepsis so am staying with the doctors advice for the moment.
