Hemmorhoids and hemmorhoidectomy

I was curious to know if anyone has tried any supplements or natural remedies for hemmorhoids and what worked or doesn't work for you. I have been reading about horse chestnut, butchers broom, and tree bark capsules. I wondered if anyone has had any success with these? I currently do sitz baths, use hemmorhoid wipes, witch hazel. I have really had zero luck with over the counter hemmorhoid creams like preparation h and anusol.
Would love to hear any suggestions. Thanks.

Hi I have had piles for 30 years . I have tried everything . Had a hemorrhoidectomy in February still got a few issues and it was a very mind bending time but hopefully fingers crossed all will be great . Been told it can take up to a year to fully recover but it was my only option in the end . Really wish i had done it a long time ago xx

Oh goodness I know what you are going through. I just had a stapled hemmorhoidectomy on April 12th. I am not recovering as fast as I had hoped. Was off of work two weeks..went back for three days and it was just too painful. Now I am off again for two weeks. I still feel like I have swollen hemmorhoids right now and like inside my rectum is pressure and burning. This has been a rough month for sure. I want to make sure I don't end up in the same boat so I am looking for some type of supplement that might help. I have suffered since my early 20s and I am 46 now. It seems they would have found something by now that actually helps.

Hi angela! I know this is years post your surgery, but did you ever get complete relief during recovery? I'm a 23 year old male who had a Stapled Hemorrhoidopexy about 17 months ago and I've been in so much pain ever since day 1 post-op. My muscles don't stop contracting in the rectum/anus and I've failed many conservative treatments. There's concern that the staple line and/or retained staples have been causing this pain and muscle crap. An "aggraphectomy" procedure was proposed an to excise the staple line but I've yet to find a physician to do it for me. I honestly feel like my life is ruined forever unless this can be resolved. How are you now?

Supplements or natural remedies are a temporary short term approach. Depending on the severity of your hems it might work, but creams etc., are not a "cure". There are some prescription creams and lotions available that work better than OTC options. I would try EVERY option before considering surgery. Some options to look into are RectaSmooth with Lidocaine 5%, Hydrocortisone Acetate 2.5%, and Analpram.
