Hemmorhoids hoping this will help.

I've had hemmorhoids since my twenties, but honestly they never bothered me. But as we age.....

Anyway, I had a really bad flare up in 2014(it was something I ate, I was 54). There was very little bleeding just a lot of itching and burning. I started using raw unfiltered honey on them and it worked!

Now at 57 I'm having another flareup. No itching, burning or pain this time, but there is blood, bright red and more than I'm used to seeing. The honey helped some this time but not like before. I called my gastroenterologist and he called me in some hydrocortisone suppositories. I have to insert one twice a day for two weeks. I'm due for my colonoscopy in October, but if this doesn't help, they want to do it before October. Long story short., has anyone a had success with the suppositories? They're called Anucort. Also I have a job where I sit a lot and when they moved us to a new building I now have a chair with no padding at all! Would really appreciate the feedback.

    Hi Juanita :-)

Amazing how you have had hems since your 20s! At least they have not bothered you much. I just had a hemorrhoidectomy a few wks ago because I needed it since other treatments didn't work. One of the treatments I tried were suppositories a few years ago, but no luck. So, here I am now still recovering from hemorrhoidectomy which has indeed been painful for me, but hoping that better days will come soon.

I hope suppositories work well for you and main thing is that you find relief soon however that may happen to be.

I wish you all the best. Take care and God Bless wink

Suppositories are good if you don't want to push. You can make DIY ones as well if you want to keep it natural. Let me know how you get on with them as I have them too.

I've been on the suppositories for four days now and they seem to working, Gabriella. No bleeding or tearing of the hemmie/fissure. I'm also trying to change my eating somewhat. No hard crunchy stuff like chips, fried chicken and definitely no spicy food. I'm trying not to stress because sometimes that can cause a flare up.  I'm also upping my water intake and taking a tablespoon of olive oil every day. Because let's face it, I'm concerned about what is going to happen after I'm done with the suppositories? I'm only going to be on them another nine days.

Thank you for the feedback! It amazes me too Andrea, but they just never bothered me until my 50's. On that respect,I feel very blessed.

The first thing I'd suggest is a pad for your chair at work. Secondly, set a timer on your phone so you get up every hour and walk around. I don't know anything about Anucort, but I don't have bleeding at all. I have the experience of emotional things giving me flare ups. Nothing like a funeral or someone in the hospital to flare me up.  Good luck!

Yes Goldenluck, I do plan on getting a pad for my chair at work. I also think part of mine is stress. My 40th high school reunion is in a week and the thought of seeing some of these judgy people just sends me around the bend. It's also costing me money. Most people would say don't go, but I'm in a position where I have to. I think once it's over I'll feel better. Thank you for the advice and the Anucort has been a big help just in a few days.
