hemochromatosis-feeling drunk/drugged?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 23 year old female. I was diagnosed with hemochromatosis at the beginning of December 2013, de-ironed by beginning of January 2014. Even though I have been de-ironed, I have still been experiencing a symptom I can only describe as feeling drunk or drugged at times. It's always worse during times of physiologic stress (ie if I'm tired, haven't eaten in many hours, if I have a cold, etc). I'm starting to think it might be adrenal-related. I'm also super exhausted and have a lot of muscle weakness at times. I'm pretty scared and feel like this feeling is never going to go away. I had never felt this way until I was very sick (pre-diagnosis). Does this sounds familiar to anyone? Please let me know. Would love some reassurance that this will get better. If it won't, honestly, please don't reply, it's just going to make me feel worse.

Oh my goodness you just described my life. I'm feeling this way right now. But out of nowhere I feel like I've been drinking for hours. The only way I ever described it to my husband was my head was foggy/fuzzy and my head would hurt. Like I didn't get enough sleep or something And drinking coffee also made my anxiety worse. To scared to go to the doctor

Hello, I'm desparate and now looking on the internet for help!!  I get the drunk/drugged feeling.  I have had it for years and it is getting worse.  Drunk/Drugged is the best way I can describe it.  Even my skin/muscles are fatigued.  I literally waste days because of the fatigue.  I feel worse more days than better.  Than when I feel good, I feel GREAT!!!  It makes no sense.  I've done food journaling, stopped eating nuts, I'm gluten free, alcohol free and BAM, I'm still like this.  Than I think, maybe I'm doing this to myself and this is the results of stress. Though I'm not super stressed.  I'm at a loss and don't know what to do.  If anyone is out there or has had any results from these symptons, please respond.  I'm wasitng my life sitting at home when I so want to be energized and outside.

    Hi there!

I am wondering if you ever found the solution to this?

I've recently experienced this feeling and it was driving me crazy. My doctor couldn't help and insisted I was crazy but I kept on searching for answers and I've got one! I've got a solid answer! Progesterone! Low progesterone to be exact.

I have been taking a suppliment which is supposed to balance my estrogen and testosterone. In the process it has made my periods irregular and I've linked it all together.

What has been happening is my progesterone has been staying low my entire cycle. It's supposed to increase after ovulation then you get a period 2 weeks later. Mine hasn't been high enough to give me a period.

I took a progesterone rising suppliment and BAM! The feeling was gone! It was like magic. Seriously felt better after only 5-10mins. I woke up the next day feeling great as well and had a full day without that spaced out feeling!

If you are a woman experiencing this feeling, check your progesterone levels!

did you ever get better or get a diagnoses? I myself went on a big night out in the summer, drank a lot of alcohol and since then I have been going through life day to day feeling as though I'm still drunk but not, like you explained. I have been this way over 6 months now, I have been diagnosed with haemochromtosis yet my doctor doesn't seem to think my brain fog is related? any comments/help Would be much appreciated!
