Hemorrhoid Banding - A Friend In Need

Hello
I have grade 3 prolapsed hemorrhoids. They are usually not painful nor bleed much BUT they are very uncomfortable, have a gross discharge and make my rectum feel full all the time. It feels like I need to have a BM 24/7 but its just the hemorrhoid. Funny thing is before I had my son 3.5 years ago I had hemi's that would bleed signigicantly but otherwise no issues, it didnt bother me. After I had my son they stopped bleeding but then all the above issues started.
Anywho, I have been avoiding treatment but its really impacting my life!! I know I need to get them banding. I am terrified. Just wondering if anyone else is considering banding, maybe we could chat and if getting it done at the same time we could be a support.
Also I would love some tips on recovery if anyone has any.
On scared little chicken over here.

I just finished my 2nd banding, one more to go. My experience is that it takes 4 weeks to recover. For me DAY 6 is the worst day. I took Advil, laid down instead of sitting, and didn't overdue things. Driving was the worst. Sometimes I used ice which was sooothing. But I certainly laid low for at least the 1st 2 weeks. My Dr. told me that some people go back to work that afternoon, I can not believe that!! I was happy to take control of this thing in my life that was not going to go away on it's own. Also, for me, emotional things made them worse. A funeral, a family visit, traveling where you sit a lot. It's not as bad as it could be and it's not a "walk in the park" either.

My colorectal surgeon said some can go back to work after one day and some take four weeks. He said a few things can happen. The band can be to tight, the hemorrhoid can be to close to the dentate line and / or it gets thrombosed. He said 1/4 chance of any of those things happening. Pot Luck really.
I am a single mum of a three year old and work three days a week. I can manage a week of work and extra care for my little one on my usual days off. But thats all I can do. When did you return to work?

what stage is your roid? If it is stage 3 onwards, banding might not help. Like in may case. Initially I went for banding and it did not help. I had 3 roids, two is stage 2 and one is stage 3. The stage 2 ones are said to have "recovered" though I am not sure. And the stage 3 one is still there and got worst actually. It became hard to make it go back in. I had to use my finger to push and push and eventually it got easier because I manage to learn how to push it back properly. It still takes up like 30 min of my time everyday after BM just to deal with pushing it back.
I am now done with laser homorhoidplasty (LHP) and recovering from it. Hopefully it will recover but I know and I must stress...things will never be the same again. You will never recover fully even after you done all the surgery. You will still need to live with the roids and sometimes schedule you life around them.

I just had 2 bandings and in 10 days #3! Hopefully your Dr. won't think s/he should do them all at once. Mine were 6 weeks apart. It hurt substantially more than I expected and my Dr. told that some people go back to work that afternoon. No way, I could do that and I realized that she probably never had a banding.
For me day 6 is the worst! But it pretty much has taken me 5 weeks until I'm better. I felt the same way you do. I was starting to plan my life around how long I had to sit. I noticed that the hemorrhoids were left hurt even more. I used Advil and Ice.
But now that it's 5 weeks, I feel SO much better and only have one left.
Also, I did not do that much for the first two weeks. Hope this helps.
