Sorry to have alarmed you. I had the op on the 12th April and I dread the bowel movements. The pain stings so bad and it often feels like thousands of glass shards trying to get out. I have had 4 kids, 2 without pain relief, so my pain threshold is quite high.

It is now day 5 post op. Things aren't too bad, although I still have a long way to go yet.

Take all medication for BM. I was given lactulose and fybogel here in the UK, which really helped me. Drink lots of water and eat a high fibre diet. For breakfast I ate bran flakes and added either raspberries or blackberries. Take short walks and built this up. After each BM I sat in a hot bath which helped. Just let the BM take there time do not force them. Hope you are feeling better this morning.

For pain I was given paracetamol and dihydrocodeine. I was lucky did not have alot of pain. The first BM was sore as you do not know what to expect. I had four internal and two external removed in October last year. I am now 100% okay. I am do glad I had the operation.

So glad you're 100% better now. Did you get anal itching at all afterwards?

I am almost 3 weeks post op. I do still have some itching. I completely understand your pain with the BM. I’m a pretty tough man when it comes to pain but that was definitely the loudest I’ve screamed from pain! Sounded like my wife when she gave birth. I strongly recommend Metamucil (my surgeon recommended 2tbs in the morning and 2 at night). Lots of water and a warm bath after each BM. I cleaned myself each time with preparation H wipes and also used tucks pads with witch hazel. Still not a good feeling but this helps a little. Best of luck!!

No I never got any itching. I would ask the hospital about this, but I would think it healing just check with them.

Where did you have your operation?
