Hemorrhoidectomy experience (july 19)

I thought of sharing my experience with everyone. I had an internal hemorrhoid removed yesterday morning and was warded in the hospital for the night. No pain just feeling pressure the whole night. Today (day 2) I'm feeling totally fine. Was wondering is it because of the local anaesthetic not wearing off yet. did not take any pain killer yet and had my first bowel movement early this noon. I had to strain and to push the stools out as it was stuck. but overall no pain just some blood . Had a sitz bath and shower and slept through the day. positive so far. will update .

hi there so good to hear that youve had a positive experience with minimal discomfort as there are so many horror stories which can put people off and cause alot of anxiety . Which procedure did you have done ? im on day 3 after having the halo and doing ok . i made the mistake of not taking painkillers but when the anaesthetic wore off i struggled a bit so have been taking some at least until i go to the toilet . Best wishes in your recovery

hi julie, I did hemorrhoidectomy . It was an unprepared surgery. initially i was told that they gonna do a band ligation on my internal hemorrhoid and incision on a polyp . But the polyp turned out to be just the internal hemorrhoid in a longer growth. So the surgeon removed it. I was under general anaesthetic so felt nothing throughout and without enema before. The surgeon told me everything went well after. I was very scared when i heard they removed it as i was expecting a ligation. Same with everyone else here i read through the horror stories so I was freaking out and the surgeon told me to expect pain for the next 1 to 2 weeks but told me he tried his best during surgery to minimize the aftermath pain. I'm on day 3 now , had a small loose bowel movement this morning . a little bleeding nothing intense just a slight sting during it and did a sitz bath with epsom salt. Slept through the day no pain just gasey . Did ice pack twice today . Hopefully everything will go well tmr too. I did not take any painkiller frm day 1 took only 1 panadol. Best wishes to you too.

Update: Day 4 post-op yesterday i had two bowel movement. some pain but bearable. slept through the day feeling nausea and feverish at night. Had two panadol in the night. And also Nurse came to visit me in the morning and gave me a lot of good advices . i Like to share with everyone here. She mentioned that stools have to be very soft for weeks so keep it up with stool softener or laxative if needed if you know bowel movement going to be painful eat one painkiller or panadol before going for No. 2. and lastly keep clean. For stool softener i had one pkt of metamucil every night.
