so my doctor told me not to push at all! but the pressure to fart and poop is becoming painful! what should i do???I'm 3 day post op

Take a laxative. If that doesn't work go to the hospital. Also take a gasx for the farting. I haven't had surgery so take my advice with a grain of salt.

You should have had a BM 2 days after surgery. Start doubling up on stool softener and also take a laxative if needed. I would call your Dr. to be sure. I've been taking Metamucil and Colace 3 times daily and it has helped immensely. Day 10 post-op and the BM's are getting easier every day. I, too, have gas in the morning before a BM put if I squat on the toilet I find it helps. A Squatty Potty is very helpful!

UPDATE: Thank you for your advice! I am feeling much more comfortable! still in a lot of pain. but GasX and laxatives are saving my life! I'm 5 days post op and hoping to see better days ahead!

UPDATE: I am 7days post op now. each day is getting better. I am still slightly uncomfortable. But for the most part, I feel great compared to the excruciating agony in the first 3 days! God bless you all! I hope other people recover quickly. Also, my doctor said that my quick recovery maybe due to my age. I am 28.
