Hemorrhoids for over a year?

So I've had what feels like 4 soft lumps outside my anus for a year and a half. They feel like soft small grapes. I sit a lot and don’t exercise but am not overweight. Age 34 and male. I’ve tried to treat them as hemorrhoids, but their year-long duration worries me.

I use extra strength hemorrhoid cream EVERY DAY, drink lots of water and eat Cheerios. Have tried prunes here and there, but my bowels aren’t painful. No blood recently. There’s consistent itching to where I need to shower after EVERY BM. Sometimes they go away temporarily when I feel for them, but after a BM they come back. In 2014 I went to the doctor (no lumps at that time) when I first saw bright blood on the toilet paper — he did a finger exam and didn’t find anything. Concluded I may have wiped too hard. No visits since then as I've thought it to be hemorrhoids, but they're not going away.

I do smoke (trying hard to stop because of all this) and I assume I have HPV because I have tiny warts on my hand and a small one on my forehead. Long history of cancer in family. No insurance or GP and stuck in a pandemic. What should I do? Thank you.

Hi Zelda, There are a few things you can try, sitting on a donut(inflatable or circular pillow) to keep the pressure off your bum, esp. with prolonged sitting at work/driving...there are wipes with aloe/cucumber & etc...that you use to keep your bum clean after b.m. then you wouldn't have to take a total shower, you can soak your bum in a low pan with a couple tsps of salt in the water, as often as a few times a day, it soothes, helps healing, keeps it clean, applying a topical ointment like Anusol can help with pain(you can use it for the ones just inside your rectum too) it can shrink them and help them heal...warm compresses can help relax the skin in the area but, for swelling you can try a cool pack...be sure to not strain and use more fiber, even something like Benefiber etc..aim for 20 g of fiber & at least 6 cups of water & other fluids a day...if it hurts at b.m. time you can use some water based personal lubricant just inside, to make the bowel movement slide w/o tearing, every time a hemorrhoid gets bleeding or a fissure tears its like starting over with healing...you may get some more ideas on here but, that's the tried and true solutions, from people I know & doctors advice, besides going to the DR...keep reading you might find more tips..GOOD LUCK💒🎶♾🌈🐾🍀☮
