Hi leilalouise
My Husband has taken chlordiazpoxide a few times. I don't know what it does to the brain as I'm not medically trained.
However, he was always advised by his detox nurse not to work whilst taking it. Also, I had to supervise his meds as instructed by his script as he would get confused.
He had to drink plenty of water and take thiamine and b1 complex for his brain.
I think chlordiazpoxide is quite strong. I don't know what your doc has advised you to do with regards to support
Good luck

Yep been there several times. Surprised your GP is doing a home detox as they are usually done by specialist alcohol dependency teams. It will certainly do the job but you will feel woozy and confused. Its very strong stuff - its also known as librium! Ive heard it described as alcohol in tablet form
You might want to take a look at this when you are feeling a bit more on planet earth - https://www.gov.uk/alcohol-problems-and-driving. I had to surrender my driving license and re-apply after 1 year of sobriety after undertaking a detox. Its a good job I enjoy cycling. The rules have tightened up recently. Check with your GP to see if he/she has taken any action (i.e. informed DVLA).
Anyway your health (mental and physical) and well being is the prime factor here, so good luck!!
