Hernia and barrats oseophagus... Sickness!!

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have had stomach problems ongoing for over 10years and taken a mix of medication to no relief!

I was finally diagnosed with a hitius hernia and barrats oseophagus after a scope in oct 2015.. My medication was changed and I will have regular scopes to check for further or cancerous changes to the barrats,

My medication seems on the most part to be working but every now and again j have bouts of severe sickness and pain above my belly button/between ribs. The sickness is horrendous and leaves me feeling exhausted and lethargic. Doctor doesn't seem interested and an wondering if a hernia can cause this or if anyone else has had similar experiences?? I am a 31 yr old female, eat well , not overweight and don't drink or smoke!

Hi weeclaire21. I get bouts of sickness with my haitus hernia but this is usually caused by stress or having eaten the wrong thing. It starts with discomfort in the diaphragm, leading into uncontrollable hiccups followed by a watery mouth. It's at this point I become sick. The sickness usually lasts for only an hour or so, the hiccups and discomfort can go on for anything up to 3 days! I struggle to eat, don't really have the appetite neither. Are you stressed? For me, that's the biggest trigger with my haitus hernia.

Thanks for your reply, no not stressed. I definitely have the discomfort and pain .. May sound weird and don't know how to describe it exactly but it's like a forceful sick.. As if something is really forcing it up .. After a few hrs of sickness I usually still feel a bit odd but as though there has been a massive release of pressure from my tummy ... Very frustrating and I obviously can't afford the damage with the barrats to get worse so that in turn will add worry ..

I have had alot of really weird problems for a year. And a half I could not figure out why I could barely eat and swallow food or even liquid without having severe symptoms after one night eating chicken that got stuck and caused me serious issues even blood pressure skyrocketed. I also hav been threw every test there is for digestive health said I had a little hiatal hernia after a year. But did nothing wwxcwpt put me on different drugs. I puke up anything I try to eat some days I can get some softer foods down but still have major symptoms after with my neck tensing and feeling like I need to pop Iit my head gets weird sensations and have felt like passing out. I have no idea what will make it to where I can eat again and not have all these weird problems. My stomach will feel like it's exploding to me it pushes and causes chest pain dizzines and or lightheaded feeling like I need to burp to get it to feel normal. I have had endoscopy colonoscopy barium swallows gastric studie and motility tests now I have to do the motility test to be able to get a surgery. I pray that's my answer I just want to eat something with out feeling such horrible symptoms.

Meant I have to take another motility test to be able to have the surgeon give me the surgery. To make sure it's not spasms. I'm scared and tired of trying to get back to normal.
