Hernia non-mesh repair treatment

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi there,

I've just been diagnosed with a right-sided inguinal hernia and having done a lot of reading over the last few days, my conclusion is that I'd prefer a non-mesh repair ideally.

I've read about Dr Ulrike Muschaweck, so I'd really like to know if anyone on here has been treated by her and what their experience was please?

I'd also really appreciate information about any other consultants specialising in non-mesh hernia repairs in the UK, who people have been treated by.

Thanks in advance,

Jack

Just to add, having done more research now, I'd be interested to know if anyone's had any experience with the Desarda repair technique, especially if it was in the UK.

It would be great if anyone could recommend a consultant in the UK who's experienced in practising the Desarda technique.

    Many thanks,

    Jack

      Hi, Jack:

Let me copy you the following posted by Phil:

Mr, Borley (in Nutfield, Cheltenham ) said he would recommend using a Component Release technique (referred to as CST in the states) which involves freeing one of the abdominal muscle layers from it’s anchor point in the flank to form a patch over the hernia thus forming a tensionless repair. No mesh would be used. I was mightily relieved. This is a much more complex procedure and requires experienced surgeons. I realised afterwards that Mr. Borley was approaching this as abdominal reconstruction rather than merely a hernia repair, this is just my take on what he said and so I may be misrepresenting him.

Check out his profile. But, Phil (also in this Forum titled something like 'anyone has experiences with the British Hernia Centre') said the op was half successful after a long wait.

Hello Jack. I hope someone responds to your post soon. I'd also be very interested to know of people's experience after a non-mesh hernia-repair operation. I've got an incional hernia after an abdominal operation.

      Hi Katie,

Hernia Talk is another good forum to join regarding this.
