I never heard such thing... I think maybe the doctor meant that if you have an outbreak during delivery that it can cause problems. But I never heard taking medication while pregnant could hurt the baby. Did you google it ?

I'm new to this, so I'm not a good person to give you answers but, I would ask your doctor again what you should do. Sounds like they weren't very informative

I'm 8months pregnant and experienced my first breakout a few weeks ago.I went to my doctor and just by taking a look down there he said that it was herpes.I received my culture and blood results this week and everything was negative...

He wrote me a prescription for acyclovir 400mg at the beginning and explained to me that if I had a outbreak during labor I would have to get a Csection to prevent it from being passed on to my unborn child. This can be a of dangerous harm to the baby.

Although my results came back negative I am continuing to take the meds 3times a day to lessen the chance of future breakouts..especially because my due date is quickly approaching...

If I were you I would change doctors. The information that your Dr gave you is CRAZY and unheard of...Do some research though..I wish you the best on trying to conceive..

I didn't think a culture could be wrong... So if it came out negative how can you have herpes? That doesn't make sense... I would get another opinion

I totally understand what you are saying..based on what I read and the pictures that I saw I figured that it was Herpes..During pregnancy the immune system is very low so this probably played a major role of having the breakout..Whatever it was...I'm going to get re-tested after delivery to ensure that everything is clear.
