Herpes: Day 4-5 after encounter. Only experiencing prodome, could I have something else?

Hey,

Sorry if this has been addressed but I can't quite find my solution.

I had unprotected sex 4 days ago with somone diagnosed with genital herpes. I have experienced abdominal pressure and lower back pains the last 2 days. I am normally quite itchy and haven't noticed any extra focus of that to be on my genitals since possible exposure. My anus was throbbing today which was a nerve experience and it seems like whatever I google appears to be a symptom of herpes. I currently have no lesions or blisters.

What I want to know is, is it at all possible to have something else? Surely the isn't just a coincidence of having sex with someone with herpes and then experiencing some of the symptoms. Is it wrong of my to be so pessimistic or are the signs pretty straight forward.

Thanks for any help

You can't really draw any conclusions based on the above, as that's rather vague. If you develop sores, have them swab tested asap. If not and you're still worried, test for HSV IgG antibodies at 3 months.
