Herpes help!

Hi everyone I just got diagnosed with hsv 1 genitaly and I know I gave it to myself as I had an eye breakout out at the same time and must have rubbed my eye without realising and transferred it! I've never had a gf and find it really hard to talk to girls in general before this happened! Now I can't even imagine doing it now! I feel lost and hate myself and can't get over doing it to myself!! Would still be bad if someone gave it to me but I done it! this has got me in knots. I suffer bad with anxiety and stress so I'm the last person that needs this!

Any advice would be appreciated!

You may have consolation in the fact that hsv1 is less likely to have reoccurances genitslly and has a much lower shed/contagious rate. I don't know the reoccurance rate of eye or other herpes. If you don't have it orally, you may never give it to someone. risk to spread it to your mouth is pretty limited to the four months immediately after initial exposure, then your body has antibodies to protect against auto infection.

If you have little to no genital rwoccurances, your contagious rate is nearly nil, since no-one kisses your eye!

Hi Sarah thanks for replying! I used to get it orally all the time as a kid and young adult so I was shocked at how this happened and so easily And I was on famiciclovir at the time this happened for my eye!

I'm hoping it doesn't cause much physical problems! The stress of it all isn't helping the situation! My eye tried to reactivate again and the genital one is tingling again and I'm still on antivirals, I didn't think it would bother me like this physically

And this whole time I haven't had a cold sore!

I can't get past the fact I've done this to myself yet! I literally hate myself at the moment!

      I'm barely coping with work

When I was first diagnosed, I too was in rough shape! Just knowing that while life would change some, other things before have changed life and everything is still ok.

Just knowing that things WOULD be ok, made things more ok NOW, if that makes sense. Also, educating myself about it online reading everything possible helped too and so did reading happy stories here.
