Herpes HSV 1 IGG Question. Please help me. Freaking out
Posted , 3 users are following.
Hello. I had unprotected oral with a guy and then I took Herpes HSV 1 and HSV 2 Igg tests exactly on the 12th day after the encounter. HSV 2 Igg came back negative but HSV 1 Igg came back with an out of range score of 18.8
Is that reliable? Do antibodies form in 12days and be recognizable on the test this early? So far I do not have any symptoms thankfully. But I am freaking out about this. Please help.
Thanks you in advance for any information shared.

your igg test is most likely accurate. igg scores, yours, which is 18, is significantly high enough to assume that is a true positive. however, i wouldnt worry about it. MANY, more than half of the population have HSV1. HSV1 is usually associated with oral herpes. if youve had cold sores as a child, then youve probably been infected a long time ago. it is recommended to test for IGG antibodies 6 weeks after potential herpes exposure (70% of people develop enough antibodies). retesting at 12 weeks is recommended (92% of people develop enough antibodies at this time).
in conclusion, it's safe to assume that you have HSV1. the question is whether you have it orally or genitally. i hope this helps.

thanks for the response. could it be from my recent exposure which was about 2weeks ago?

im not an expert, but based on my research, i doubt that it is from a recent exposure from 2 weeks ago.

100% not from the recenf exposure. most people have HSV-1 since childhood. if you ever had a cold sore that is herpes.

It's weird that I had it and did not know but as far as I remember I never had any cold sore anywhere on my body. Maybe last year I had a painful bump right in between my butt cheeks.
Is it possible to not have any symptoms at all?

a coldsore is only on your lips/mouth. 80% of people with herpes are asymptomatic so its not unlikely that your body suppressed it all these years.

many people are asymptomatic when it comes to HSV 1 and or 2. after infection, you may develop symptoms as early as a few days, in years, or even never. some people exhibit mild symptoms that go unnoticed. since a great portion of the population acquire HSV1 during childhood, id assume youve done so too. however its important to keep in mind that HSV1 prefers to infect the oral area, but infection in the genital area happens too. btw, you cant be infected in both areas.
