Herpes in Rectum

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi Guys, this is my first post

I've been experiencing pain in my rectum and inability to go toilet. So I checked it out with a Dr and she said I may have Herpes in my rectum sad So I have to take Aciclovir.

How is this even possible, I've never had anal sex, and doesn't Herpes occur on skin outside the body e.g. bum cheeks?

Herpes can appear anywhere in the anogenital area within the boxer shorts region. Just as you can get lesions inside the vagina (usually on the cervix), you can get them inside the anus/rectum. You do not need to have had anal sex for this to happen. So long as you are infected, the virus has the potential to appear anywhere within the area mentioned above. I hope your doctor took a swab to test for herpes. You and your partner should also test for herpes IgG antibodies (not IgM).
