Herpes on penis - keeps coming back

I got herpes 2 years ago, the first time quite bad. The sores were large initially. Problem is they keep coming back, even after all this time.
I know i have the virus for life but i read that symptoms can calm down or stop eventually.
When will this happen? Its becoming frustrating. I got the following sore after masturbating. That doesnt happen often, but i do get them after sex sometimes. It feels like every 3rd or 4th time i have sex i get them. And im out of action for 2 weeks!
Is this classed as mild and will it calm down more typically? ps i did have a mild cold when i got this one, does a weakened immune system make them more likely ? I only masturbated to make me feel better with a dragging cold and then i ended up with this.

yes, actually it can (weakened immune system) regular colds such as what you mentioned you had are all triggers for an outbreak. whenever you pleasure yourself you should make sure to lubricate so friction isn't another culprit for an outbreak. you should grab B12, and D6 and D3 (i think helps with immune system support) you can also get onto viral meds from your doctor that can also help with your OBs.

Thank you!
I'm hoping it is mainly because of a weakened immune system that it came back so easy this time.
I will take these vitamins as you suggested to give myself a better chance of keeping it at bay.
I'm just hoping they start to become less frequent as they are so frustrating. Mainly because of the length of time they take to heal.

2 weeks since i noticed the sore and it is still not gone!
It is still red and mostly healed over. How do i speed up the healing process and what shouldnt i be doing?
Ive applied some e45 cream, is this ok? Anything i can buy over the counter to speed this up?
Also when can i resume being sexually active ? My girlfriend knows and we use condoms but i dont want to have this flare up again and aggrevate it. Especially as it takes an age to go. I dont know how long to wait. As it takes so long ive been waiting as i dont want it to come back into a sore.

Hi all, 10 months since my post and i haven't had an outbreak that i can recall. Just a couple of questions. (It's Type 2).
I know i will shed 30% of the year.
Can i re-infect my partner (she has it) for example if we have oral or anal sex. Her outbreaks occur around the vagina. I dont want to pass it to another area.
Is it possible now we both have antibodies that i could pass it on orally. That is something we have both avoided as we dont want to pass it to the mouth.
Thanks
