Herpes on the tongue

Hi I have been told I have both types of herpes (aprox 4 years ago) but have never had a coldsore on my mouth so far.  Recently I went to the Dr with a sore tongue. It’s at the end of my tongue (not all over), is red, slightly swollen on one side, but no lesions/blisters. I’ve had it for 3 weeks. He says it might be oral herpes but can’t be sure so has also sent me for bloods yobruie our a vitamin deficiency.

Not sure if this is the right forum as I didn’t get a response on the other one I’ve tried. I really don’t think it’s herpes from what I’ve read and pics I’ve seen. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Does not sound like herpes. Oral herpes is usually external and wouldn't persist 3 weeks unchanged.

There are no sores visible, ulcers, blisters or otherwise. This is what’s throwing me. It’s tender and there’s redness there but that’s it.

Then it's likely not herpes or a canker sore. Maybe just a swollen taste bud.
