Herpes or canker sore?

hi, i was diagnosed with genital hsv1 about two months ago and was devastated. this has been appearing on my tongue (always in the same spot) a few times since. it only lasts a few days and doesn't hurt much.. only if i eat salty food or something. when i looked up similar photos, it looks more like a canker sore - especially because oral herpes usually appears on lips. has anyone experienced this before? any input is appreciated. thanks!
