Herpes outbreak at SAME time as boyfriend???

My boyfriend became furious when he discovered a few small sores around his genitals the night after we tried anal. I suggested that it may be irritated hair follicles, until I noticed sores on myself. Doctor said it looked like herpes, I am awaiting test results. I have remained faithful to him for all 10+ months. I know the virus CAN lay dormant for up to years, but the average time is 2 weeks. What are the odds of us flaring up at the SAME TIME 10 months later????????

Theres no point getting angry about it as it doesnt change anything but to be honest its not all that bad lots of people have herpes without knowing and im glad i know as i can now tell when im about to have an outbreak so can get straight on my meds. Nobody will ever know who caught it first or when but its happened.
An outbreak at the same tine is rare so maybe its not herpes but something else wont know until results come back i was gutted when i found out but its one of them things that does happen and is very managable .

Have you tried printing off fact sheets and talking? A lot of anger comes from lack of understanding.
Me and my boyfriend agreed not to play the blame game. It's hard because I'd had bloods and tests done recently to rule out STIs as a cause for my recurrent UTIs and it'd come back clean. I have to watch myself because some of my words become aggressive without me realising.
Sadly it's the only advice I can give; talking, no finger pointing, and watching tone.

If you don't mind me asking how soon after anal was the breakout. We attempted anal as well for the first time then in less than 48 hours the breakouts occurred. We're both very scared and find the whole thing overwhelming as both of us were very under the impression we were clean.

Hey Hun so I'm new to this site. Just went for a follow up from an e.r visit after anal and the er docs didn't say anything about gh now the follow up dr says that has to be what it is. Getting results back today. I started getting a rash about 48 hours after anal and I believe I had a small tear in anal tissue due to friction an prob no enough lube. We were. Together over 3 years had a 10 month break get back together a d bam with in a month and a half of getting back together this shows up and he swears it was all protected except a few head sessions he received during our break. Ur not alone had to reply as our situations sound pretty similar!!! I'm here to chat!

Same here 48 hours. But my partner shows zero signs of anything while my outbreak has been the most painful excruciating experience in my life. Today is day 9 😥

Me and my girl just had sex for the first time on Sunday, than Tuesday at the same time we both noticed itching and burning. Then bumps and swelling and scary stuff. Hers was all way worse then mine and mines actually doing a lot better and it's now Thursday. She went to her GYN who stated they were 99% it was herpes and prescribed herpes Medication, while my physician thought that such a fast occurrence for the both of us at the same time, and an onset so quickly of sex was very strange and not typical of herpes. He stated that usually one person has it already and than the other finds out a week later. For us to both have it at the same time les then 2 days later was very strange. He said it may or may not be. Will keep posted

I'd be thinking that whoever had it first had pre outbreak prodrome and was shedding without realising it and passed it to the other, then their outbreak came at the same time as the person it was passed to. If you got bloods taken and looked at the values you may be able to tell who has had the virus longer as their index will be higher than someone who has recently been infected.
