Do all herpes sores crust over? Especially of the female perineum.

    not all sores will heal the same or look the same. even when you do have HSV2 or HSV1 you may have different out breaks in different spots and different looks. its a tricky virus. best to get blood test 90 days after exposure or if you can get into a clinic and have a swab test (culture) taken directly from an open sore (not one that is healing and or crusted) it will give a 99% accurate reading and you wont have to wait so long for a blood test. also, keep in mind those with HSV of either type rarely know they have it and the "first" time you have signs or symptoms may not be the initial outbreak. some people have this virus for years and do not know
