Chris, I don't know,  all I know is I never got symptoms for hsv 2.  I got tested in April this year on a Std 10 panel test, like hiv, syphillis, etc.  all negative except the herpes tests.

HSV1 is positive, HSV2 may or may not be (could be due to cross-reaction from pre-existing HSV1, assuming this to be the HerpeSelect kit).

Felix I went to a lab and they performed the test, that was bank in April this year.

not sure what herpes select kit is?.  This was a 10 panel Std check,  all negative expect the herpes part.

It is an HSV test kit brand commonly used in the US, but it has its issues and limitations. If you have no reason to fear or suspect HSV2 and never had genital symptoms, but do have pre-existing HSV1 and an equivocal or low positive HerpeSelect HSV2 IgG, I would treat that as suspect.

Thanks Feliz,  no never had genital symptoms, so the hsv 2 igG at 2.48 could be a false positive?.

Feliz, I read that cross reaction is no longer possible now with the new advancements, is that true?

Other test kits are supposedly better and don't have this issue, but I'm not sure if HerpeSelect was ever improved.
