Herpes? Yeast Infection? Scratch? Advice appreciated!

About a week ago I had my first period in months (due to my contraception injection). In the first couple of days of my period, my vagina was abnormally itchy and I wondered if maybe I had a yeast infection. A couple of days later a noticed slight stinginess when I peed and decided to check it out and found this sore. This is the first time I've ever had a sore on my vagina and my mind is in over drive.

Background: I was seeing a guy and having unprotected sex for around 9 months, he told me he was clean of STD's and you can never be certain if somebody is being truthful. I know I was STD free before sleeping with him. We haven't slept together in around 3 months, I've had no symptoms during this time until now on my period.

Could this be the result of me scratching or a yeast infection or could it be Herpes? My period has finished and the area is no longer itchy, I don't particularly have discharged and there is a slight smell but I think this could be from me not washing as thoroughly because of the sore.

Any advice would be great! I'm currently away however I am going to the Sexual Health Clinic on Monday to get tested and will post my results when I find out for anyone else in a similar situation.

Another angle of the sore...this is the only place where the sore is and has been and it has not spread anywhere else.

UPDATED PHOTO: The photo posted above originally is from yesterday. Today I checked just now and the sores seem to have gotten smaller over night, you can also see a little white discharge in this photo.

    its herpes

Do you think the fact the sore is getting better within days after it appearing could be an indicator it is something other than herpes? Although I'm preparing myself for the worst.

maybe. but look dont listen to people or the internet telling you what their outbreaks look like and what yours should or shouldnt look like. every outbreak and every person is different. my first outbreak was 2 days, two small bumps and never did it hurt. i almost thought it wasnt herpes until swab and blood were positive. i dont want to scare you, you could have something else. but just keep that in mind. you should definitely see a doctor

UPDATED PHOTO 2: I've checked again this morning and it seems it has reduced in size slightly again. All these photos span over 4 days, the one attached is the most recent one.

I'm so sorry to hear this was your result, I'm also very scared. Did your sore get worse or better or stay the same (before being prescribed medication)

it was literally one little bump and it was uncomfortable not so much hurting or painful .. it hurt for like days .. when i went to planned parenthood she swabbed it .. and sent it out

Yeah, mine is not a bump and it's not painful. The sore/cut is actually nearly gone now but I'm still going to the Doctor on either Monday or Tuesday to get it checked. I hope you're feeling a little better! Thanks for replying.

when you go, show your dr the progressions of the pictures.

i dont think its herpes! first outbreaks tend to be more painful and last longer.

herpes does effect people differently though, i would still go to the doctor on monday and show them pictures and get a screen!

if something was to arise like this again get a swab done 😃

Seems like it would be devestating, but its not!

So many people have it and are living life to the fullest. its upsetting but not the end of the world.

Yes, that's very true. Not a nice prospect but not the end of the world by any means. Thanks for the advice, appreciate it!
